tek5828
One thing I didn't really like about oblivion was that at around level 30, there were no new sets of armor/weapons to attain when dungeon crawling. A mod I think would really increase the life of skyrim (for me if not anyone else :( ) would be to included mod weapons (i.e 3rd party weapons made by community) but only with higher level drop scenarios . eg, Zignotium Glass, levels 50 , Dignified Steel level 62, . That way, there is still incentive to level past daedric and well into level 80. Already there are fantastic mods releaseing brand new models with amazing textures, only if you could incorporate them so as to not get them at low levels, make them above daedric. Whenever I would get an amazing armor or weapon mod in oblivion from tesnexus, it would either be spawned in my inventory or i could buy it from the local trader for 15k, even at low levels. This made it waay to easy for me.Aswell, whole kits could be produced, i.e Zignotium Glass armor and weapons, this would in turn make mobs harder as they would sparsely have this gear too. Just my 2c Leave some ideas if you have any.
satsujinka
So here's an idea.Corundum is the material that rubies and sapphires are made of. It has a hardness of 9 on the mohs scale (diamond is 10, the hardest.) This means that only diamond and corundum can cut corundum (well, there's other materials that are hard enough but still.) Further you can synthesize corundum fairly easily, meaning that it isn't uneconomical to make an armor set out of. So a higher level glass set could be made out of corundum (total effort: recolor glass and add to level lists.) Diamond is also possible to make stuff out of as yet another level higher (obsidian can be used for the highest tier of cutting weapons as obsidian cleaves to the molecular level, meaning it can be made really sharp.) And another idea.Add in additional styles of armor. So for example the style iron armor is in could be the lowest tier of any material. People probably have different tastes but the steel style could be a middle for any material, then the unique style of the material (steel's is the steel plate armor, dwarven would be the current style, etc.) This would significantly pad out the existing material types. Implementation wise, it should probably be done by teaching styles (training does this) for materials you already know. You'd get the first form with the perk, and if you have the style for what is now steel learned, you'd get that too. The highest level you'd have to hunt down. leot486
You would need to expand upon the smithing skill. Either make it go higher then 100 and have more perks after, or reorganize the current perks. to accommodate new ones. I was thinking for diamond being it is the hardest why not make it a lv 80 armor and weapon set. I feel it should only be made by the player, or found on ancient dragons. Cause there is no diamond big enough to make a plate body or a sword with you would need to fuse a bunch of diamonds together. I was thinking that some how in order to make it it would require dragon fire thinking that dragon fire is of the hottest flame in order to be able to do this. So you would need a special smith, or fire breath shout? Just an idea. Also being we are on the topic of armor, has it been established that there should be a dragon weapon set and that dragon armor should be stronger then daedric? I mean it needs 100 smithing as it is, and it is 10x cooler -_- just thinking out loud here :whistling: Edited December 23, 2011 by leot486
tek5828
FANTASTIC!!! I love your ideas guys, yeh and diamond or corundum being the highest makes sense. In between daedric (lvl 30?) and diamond (level 80) can be lore friendly i.e, Armor of the Mamoth or dragon tooth armor/weapons. Like dwarven, not a material but a make. Also being we are on the topic of armor, has it been established that there should be a dragon weapon set and that dragon armor should be stronger then daedric? I mean it needs 100 smithing as it is, and it is 10x cooler -_- just thinking out loud here Yes, I too believe dragon should be stronger, as dragons and being a dragon born is the key plot of the WHOLE GAME. I think maybe only dragon born can unlock the special enchantments of the armor? but if given to companions it would just be slightly better daedric? leot486
Sounds about right to me. It would be like the Dragonborn's second skin after all, being he has a soul of a dragon.
Alex4921
Diamond swords would be cool as if you sharpened them enough they wouldn't even need to be that strong because they would have the ability to just slice through everything with minimal effort. Nycidian
If you want to keep to the idea of light armor which is not only obviously light in weight but supple such as leather armors are then it would be more appropriate to keep the base materials ones that can flex to a considerable degree (although glass armor makes no sense and honestly never has). I would suggest a list in this style: Partial or Light or Young **********Studded ******Scaled ****** The reason I suggest this format is two fold one to keep it fairly consistent, and therefore easy to understand and secondly because in reality leather armor progresses in such a fashion, partial protection either part of a full set or a light version then regular armor then studding the armor with pieces of bone or metal and finally attaching overlapping scales to the leather. Elven and glass of course are not really fantasy versions of leather armor but I think they fit in this list decently. Partial HideHideBone Studded HideBone Scaled Hide Partial LeatherLeatherMammoth Studded Leather (Mammoth Ivory)Mammoth Scaled Leather (Mammoth Ivory) Young Ice Wolf LeatherIce Wolf LeatherSteel Studded Ice Wolf LeatherSteel Scaled Ice Wolf Leather Troll SkinFrost Troll SkinSky Steel Studded Frost Troll SkinSky Steel Scaled Frost Troll Skin Partial Elven ElvenMoon Stone Studded ElvenMoon Stone Scaled Elven Partial GlassGlassCorundum Studded GlassCorundum Scaled Glass Young Dragon HideDragon HideDiamond Studded Dragon HideDiamond Scaled Dragon Hide Then using this list just push when you get armors so that you don't see elven/glass/dragon until very high level. Faize173
On the topic of armours, what i was considering, is having different armour styles AND materials What if I wanted the style of iron armour made from ebony Dwarvern armour made of steel so on and so forth, you could also expand the tech tree with this style - kind of like the lockpicking tree And maybe add another 1 or 2 light armours
