rad5229
Whenever I sneak attack a dragon and kill it in one shot, it flies around for a couple seconds, lands, then dies but he decides to keep his soul. what gives? anyone else have this bug/problem? Kodiak412
I have had a couple instances of this. The dead dragon just lays there and does nothing. I never "one shot sneak attack" killed a dragon, so that was not a trigger for me. Prob just a game glitch.
jsnider193
Anyone ever determine what might be causing this .. have got it now myself, level 43 and a tad into the game and hoping not to have to do a restart. Keep killing the things and never get any souls, also the dead dragon tends to lay around forever and not get cleaned up. Been using PISE and DeadlyDragons, but when disable both still have this issue. have ck'd the globals in the game and seem to be what should be, right now appears tht not a dragonborn anymore since can't eat my soul dinner anymore. essexfuzz
I'm level 44 and just ran into this problem for the first time. I killed a normal dragon near Markarth and didn't absorb his soul. Maybe it's built into the game that after a certain level you only absorb the souls of the more powerful dragon types? If so that would be very annoying. mrodgers83
This is an older, known bug. Apparently the unofficial skyrim patch tried to fix the issue but there is something in the engine that makes this a likely occurrence though it shouldn't happen every time.
