vault75
Basically, I just want to know what constitutes a "Hot File" and gets featured on the home page? Not being funny about it, just that I've worked incredibly hard on my companion mods and when I see other companion mods getting into Hot Files that have had half my downloads and nowhere near the amount of endorsements, I wonder what is it that makes a file "Hot". Don't get me wrong, I don't make mods just to be featured - I enjoy making companion mods - it's just nice to get a bit of recognition for them, because it can't be based on downloads / views? EmissaryOfWind
Hot files are the files released in the last week that have the most endorsements. Currently, that means ~45 endorsements in the first week.
vault75
45? I guess I was just unlucky it didn't get featured then. So, basically, since my companion mod has been out for a while now, it's not qualified for hot files?
EmissaryOfWind
If it's older than a week, it will not appear on the hot files, unless there were less than five new files in the last week, which... obviously doesn't happen with Fallout games. crawe1x
Yes, it's a strange system. There are quite a few popular and classic mods, like Elgoes' definitive Pipe Shotgun, that I'm pretty sure never made it to Hot Files. A lot of it comes down to timing as well. Skibadaa's recent shotgun redux only just managed to creep into the list because it was released around the same time as a bunch of other blockbuster weapons mods from the likes of Millenia, etc. Yet his handgun redux, which is not nearly as popular, was released during a less crowded period and so appeared in the Hot Files far earlier. It's not a perfect system because it means that some great mods don't get the exposure that they deserve. Still, rest assured, vault75, your work hasn't gone unnoticed - who can resist Mollie and her pom poms? One of the few mods that has made me smile. Keep up the great work! Thank you, I appreciate your kind words! And I guess it's just luck in the end, since there are so many different mods released. I do tend to find that skimpy clothing and OP weapons make it there a lot lol.
damanding
It's a long running joke that a file needs boobs or guns to make the hot files.
vault75
It's a long running joke that a file needs boobs or guns to make the hot files. So it's pretty much a given that if I make a mod that allows you to shoot bullets from your boobs, it'll make hot files?

I'm thinking Austin Powers style.

There was a mod for Skyrim that allowed you to shoot spells from your boobs, so...
