Depends on what sort of spider really, a big Tarantula maybe. The most interesting tattoos I've seen where temprorary ones a girl I never wore to a halloween party. She did them herself-and damn did she do a good job. They were very simple, stitches, part-lines, surgical tape, and surgical wiring on her shoulder, neck, jaw and wrists. The result? hard to describe, but a really good zombie effect, damn convincing, they seemed totaly 3-d.

Personaly though my advice is never get words tattooed on. Words always go wrong and can always be parodied mercilessly, that goes double for words in other languages, and triple for words in other languages you don't understand. We've all heard the one about the girl who got "park bench" tattoo'ed on her forearm in Japanese and didn't realise until years later, and also, keep a cohesive theme. Mismatching never really looks quite right to me.

Manly tattoo or girly tattoo? Have to ask.

If you're into the heavy dark lines sorta stuff, one option to try out different styles is using henna to see if you like how it looks since it can last from a few days to a week or two and can be rather dark depending on where and how you apply it (keep in mind it's supposed to be redish brown, not black, NEVER black). It's non-traditional use, but if you live in a college area there are bound to be a few people who can do it.
