Lugh1000
It's the only explanation I have, does anyone have any idea if this has happened before and how I can fix it?
MShoap13
My first question is, are you using SKSE and ENBseries on the 1.3.10 patch? I've experienced intermittent missing fire/ice animations (possibly lightning too, I didn't look into it) due to SKSE and ENB myself, and fixed it by changing the Device ID I put in for ENBseries. I have a GTX 560 TI and had ENB set up with the Device ID for a GTX 480 (06c0) as it gave me the biggest FPS boost (only 2-3 FPS anyways). Changing the Device ID to my card's (1200/1201/1202) did not fix the problem but changing it to any of the following did: nothing (0000), GTX 580 (1080), and GTX 540 (1040). The 540 gave me a slight performance boost over the 580 and leaving it blank (only 1-2 FPS). As far as determining whether or not Midas Magic is the cause for sure, simply deactivating it's plugin should do the trick, but doing a full uninstall of it by manually tracking down and removing any assets it may have added to your \Data\ directory may be necessary (I'm not sure if this is necessary as I haven't used Midas Magic yet). You can use the archive you downloaded for Midas as a reference to determine exactly what files it added, and what folders it added them to if you aren't sure. I have not used any graphics enhancing mods, exactly for this reason I didn't want to risk graphical glitches. As far as Midas, I turned it off and I still had the problem, but it's strange because I have no idea what it could be. I'd need to know what should be in the data folder and if anything I need was replaced or erased while putting mods in. There's nothing else I got that should be even involved in this sort of thing that could be the culprit. Another odd feature that could be related, "load loose files" does not stay checked when I select everything in my data files at launch. MShoap13
First off, let's get a proper list of mods, etc. that you are currently using (including SKSE, any external LAA patching etc.), your game version, OS, and info on your CPU/GPU and RAM. All of this could prove to be helpful information in troubleshooting your issue. I just peeked at the Midas Magic archive and it contains no replacers, only files it adds to the game itself. As I stated earlier, you can use the archive as a reference to see exactly what files it adds to the \Data\ folder, and where it adds them. The Load Loose Files tick box is broken for a large number of people (myself included), and doesn't seem to matter. Also, ENBseries Patch 9 isn't an enhancement, it's actually a 3rd party bug fix that helps resolve issues with invisible flames/ice, random black artifacts, lag spikes and lockups when buffering exterior cells, etc. You may be experiencing a problem inherent to the vanilla form of Skyrim and this graphics patch may actually help you. MShoap13
Sounds like you are running into a bug inherent in the game's graphics so it may be worth your time to try out ENB. This version (v0096) is simply a fix file, though I will say that some of the features (AntiBSOD and Reduced Memory Usage) are still more or less beta and may or may not cause other issues with your game if you turn thm on (they're off by default). This version (v0101) is both a bugfix and a graphical enhancement. It's highly customizable though your card may or may not have performance issues while running it. Either version may impact your highest FPS but overall, your FPS will be more stable and your low will likely see a small boost. I'm also going to go ahead and suggest you get SKSE and TESVAL (an SKSE performance boosting plugin) as these will more than offset any loss of FPS you may see from ENB. Lugh1000
Sounds good. I'll get this set up and if it's fixed I'll let you know. And vice versa.
MShoap13
I forgot to mention that you should definitely add in the Vendor ID in the ENBpatch.ini (or ENBseries.ini if you went with version 1.01) to minimize the impact it has on your FPS. Nvidia's Vendor ID is 10DE and I believe it can be entered any number of ways in the config file, but most people use an 8 digit hex string (000010DE). Lugh1000
I did what you said to do and there's no change. The spells still don't work. To be clear, I downloaded your first suggestion. It didn't even fix the minor graphical glitch where my player's legs disappear in third person in a cloak. It didn't even fix the minor graphical glitch where my player's legs disappear in third person in a cloak. The disappearing legs sounds like a problem with the games models, not the rendering. Did you get the message about ENB working upon starting Skyrim? If not, you didn't install it correctly and it's not running. If so, try putting in different values for the Device ID in ENBpatch.ini.
