MrHermeteeowish
The biggest problem showracemenu seems to have is the loss of your race's abilities. My character has lost his Nord Blood frost resistance, and now he's a disgrace to his people, apparently. Is there a console command to restore this effect, or a mod that lets you change your appearance without ruining your character?
Rabbit1251
Well, in there was a way in Oblivion although I haven't used it in Skyrim yet. Open console.Type "showracemenu".Close console.Alter character.DO NOT close or click 'done'.Open console again.Open Main Menu (esc).Save game. With Race Menu still up load last save. The character should be altered with the same stats as before. As I say I do not know whether this works the same in Skyrim. Rabbit
MrHermeteeowish
I did some reading at UESP, and the FormID for Nord Blood is 000aa020. What command should I use to apply this to my Active Effects? Source: UESP, Skyrim:Nord

MrHermeteeowish
Quit the game and come back ... The racial Resistance come back to ... Well I'll be damned. It works! Thanks, buddy! showracemenu is still far too buggy for my liking, though. Maybe someone will make a mod that lets you change your hairstyle or your eye colour without breaking the damn game. We could visit a cranky old mage named Pinkerton in the Midden who fixes you up with Illusion magic. If you can fight your way past angry Mudcrabs and gas traps, that is. burningworm
there is a little downloadable tutorial somewhere at the nexus mods. You can alter complexion, and i think it was hair-and eyecolor. At least eyecolor you cannot pick from beast-races, as far as i remember. So you open showracemenu, close console, open console, write "setrace ..." there, chose new skintone( the dremora ones look ok on orc ), "setrace" back to your previous race, rename your character, carry on.If your handposition doesn't change during modification your abilities should have stayed the same.If you get dremora horns youcan get rid of them with setrace orc. Shantih
I don't get why they didn't choose to implement an option to edit or rebuild your character at the end of the tutorial. It was very useful in Oblivion and Fallout 3.

It was very useful in Oblivion and Fallout 3. Apparently it was pretty buggy in New Vegas. The only way they got away with putting it in was that you're probably a very low level at Goodsprings, so not a lot of variables would be changed. Skyrim, on the other hand, I imagine as incredibly complex next to New Vegas, and changing anything about your character, anytime, would break the game. At least that's my theory. Maybe if you got to a really high level in Goodsprings and then messed with your character when prompted, you'd break New Vegas.
