ShootingStarAJM
I want to download mods for Skyrim: Special Edition, but I have had very bad luck with mods in the past. Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, none of them worked out for me. It's because I don't fully understand how the NMM works. I always get carried away with mods. I download too many and by the time I try to play the game, nothing works. So I need thorough, specific, step by step instructions on what mods to download and what order they should be loaded. Right down to every single click of the mouse. The goal for what I'm looking for is immersion and realism. I want mods that overhaul the game to look real, as well as lore friendly mods that add weapons, armors, locations, and characters that all fit in the Skyrim narrative. My computer specs aren't very impressive, but they're average. NVIDIA GTX 765M, Intel Core i7, 16GB Ram, plenty of storage. It's average. Please help. I'm begging you all. RitualClarity
Sorry,I doubt this can be done for complex mod installs. There are so many variations and choices it would be very difficult to cover all the combinations and if complex.. it would take a volume of text the size of a novel to fulfill the step by step moue click by mouse click (potential photos etc) that you request. There are some things that you can do for yourself. First would be to watch some tutorial videos for NMM. Perhaps Gopher's videos for NMM which he also uses many Nexus mods and sets up a game. (basic but nice) Get used to that. Then you can add to it with SMALL STEPS. The key is to install a mod (make sure your requirements are already there) and then test. Play for a few hours and see if you like it. If so move on if not remove it and start over (from the same clean save. A clean save in this reference is a save that has no mods installed at all) It is tedious and hard. However in time you will collect a large collection of mods that work the way you want. You will also be sure they work with each other as you grow your mods list in NMM. Then when a problem occurs it will be smaller and easier to trace. At first not by you but in time you will start to get a understanding of how the mods work. For example problems with bodies like infinite tits relate to the body and or skeleton (in this case skeleton being wrong) Don't fear the worst you can do is get to a point you have to clean up the game folder (delete and reinstall or later when you understand the process just clean up the additional files and verify cache) and start over. No harm will come except to your time invested. This invested time will lead you to learning and growing as a modder. there is currently no easy bullet that I am aware of. Perhaps if NMM does implement something they wanted to do a bit ago where someone could upload a profile and then you could download it and get the same results. If this gets done and works well then you just need to find good profiles that give you what you want. Until then you have to learn. Even with the profile system I mention above.. it is to your benefit to learn how to mod and how this works. One of the best resources you can develop is a group of mod sites and members in those sites that are helpful and able to guide you as you learn and make mistakes. I can assure you that anyone that has complex modding or mods have made many if not all the same mistakes you have made.
Novocaine69
i cant tell you what Special edition mods to download because not much is ported or out just yet, but i can tell you what i do.Download Wyne Bash, learn it, its a great mod orgeniser Download Loot, which sorts your activated mods and warns you if any errors or conflicts basically everytime you add a mod run loot, just to be safe and resort any new mod into its rightful place doing these 3 steps had me in mod-using-heaven, everything is sorted, everything is checked for errors and conflicts, i can even format and reinstall windows and keep my skyrim folder and wyne bash folder, where i can take off where i left it. one thing though: SOME mods are way better to install and configure using NMM, which i rarely do and so i end up using NMM and wyne bash, but thats rare the main be wyne bash, those guys do a great job of codding and making that app work, it tells you wants installed, it tells you which saves been saved with which mods etc.. in short, i am just advising you to learn wyne bash as i did and things been great ever since i got good working with it, (which has been since oblivion days)i wish you good luck and sadly, alot of skyrim mods hasnt been ported yet so it wont be such a great experience. HalfDead31
I mostly followed a guide here on the SSE nexus. Just read the instructions on the individual mod pages as well. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2846/?
wfandrews
I would recommend the Skyrim forum on Steam. In the pinned topics at the top of the forum you will find much excellent advice for anyone who is new to modding.Although if you are playing on a console and getting your mods through Bethseda.net much of this will not apply to you. ShootingStarAJM
Alright. I've taken all your advice and modding has been going very smoothly for me so far. I started a new game and saved it once I got to Whiterun. From there I began downloading mods one at a time and testing each one on that save file, as well as using LOOT to organize the load order. I have 60 mods installed and the game is somehow managing to stay at 60 FPS. My only problem seems to be with animation replacer mods. No matter which ones I download, they don't work. Which is a shame because I hate some of the vanilla animations and desperately want to change them. Any help?
nubbeldilla
Hi you have to install the animations mods and then use the FNIS mod. Install FNIS and go to your skyrim data folder, search the FNIS exe and start it. There you have to use the "generate FNIS for users" tool, mark gender specific and update FNIS behaviour. Done ;)
flyddon
you may want to watch gophersvids . com he did a entire series on mods and modding for SKYRIM including how to install mods , how to install FNIS, ENB and other. He did this for Skyrim and is now doing an updated run on Skyrim SE.
