Skyrim Special Edition - Bloodskal Blade Effect On Other Weapons?

Hey guys.

So I decided to start Skyrim SE off with a one-handed character, as previously I never did much other than archery. Unfortunately, the Bloodskal Blade with it's effect would be perfect for my character (basically a Spellsword) but from what I can tell after a whole day spent in the CK and browsing posts for the original Skyrim, it's pretty much the hardest weapon to transfer the effects from.

In the past whenever I've found a gap in my weapon needs, I've just jumped in the CK/GECK and duplicated the weapon with the look I wanted, changed the ID, done the stats, and chucked on the enchantment and script. Or changed the projectile from "5mm" to "mini nuke." So basically this is where my level of modding is at. So what I'm after is, is anybody either already working on this mod for Special Edition, or can somebody who knows more than me (which, again, my level of knowledge could be described as "nothing") give me a step-by-step little guide on exactly what I need to do to be able to get the energy wave power attack effect thingy onto another weapon, where to find the files I need on Windows 7 with the Steam release, etc. whilst keeping the original completely in-tact?

Also if anybody knows why the f*#@ Bethesda decided to make this weapon so ridiculously difficult and based entirely on scripts, please tell me? It's annoying as f*#@.

Thank you, beautiful modding people.

The projectile is fired when the weapon is swung. While I have not looked at it myself, it seems obvious that OnAnimationEvent is required to listen for weaponSwing, and then call Cast() for the spell, hence scripting. I don't think there's another approach Beth could have taken. So it maybe as simple as just applying the script(s) to a different weapon and maybe changing a few things within it.

The Bloodskal blade is actually a persistent reference that is stored in a quest alias, which is where the attached script lives. As written the script will only work for greatswords and only one object can have the Bloodskal blade effect at a time. Lisseli is correct that OnAnimationEvent is used, but the animation event that is registered for is specific to greatswords.
