Med111
the tank is full of gas lol In fact, you can't ignite gas tank by shoting at it with normal ammo. In most cases.
JohnFreeman90
That and no cars in Fallout use gas. and after 200 years and gas would have evaporated anyway.
FMod
I would imagine shooting the car causes the coolant to displace, and thus drives the fuel rod critical. There is no coolant. The reactors haven't been running for a long long time. When you produce energy, you have to spend it somewhere, and cars remain cold and silent. It's just movie magic or call it game magic. No reason for them to explode at all.

FMod
When lithium meets air, it starts turning black. Eventually, but not quickly, it crumbles into grayish powder/dust. If set on fire, it burns quite bright, but not as hot as thermite. So, basically, nothing much happens.Besides, Fallout might not even have lithium batteries. Azrael120782
They can explode, just not an explosion we think of. Its more of a bag bursting with fire.
marharth
Nuclear energy in fallout obviously doesn't match real life physics... Last time I checked being next to a pit of radiation won't turn me into a zombie.

Last time I checked being next to a pit of radiation won't turn me into a zombie. It wont do that in fallout either. Ghoulification takes longer.
