ObsydianShade
Inspired by Lautasantenni's "One Handed Warhammers:" http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9629/? which I discovered not all that long ago, it occured to me it would be a great idea to be able to be able to reverse the heads at the forge to use the pick side of the hammer. Picks are a category of weapons that are pretty neglected even as far as mods go, and this is an oversight as far as Skyrim is concerned, as they'd be useful for getting though heavy armor and helms. I first contacted the original mod author about the idea, but he's pretty much retired from Skyrim modding, offering me this reply: "Thank you for your message. I afraid I won't be doing modding for Skyrim anymore. It's been years and I really don't have the time anymore. I appreciate your feedback though, and if you can find someone willing to do it, feel free to upload onto Nexus." This would be an easy project for a beginning modder, or even a more skilled individual with the time and inclination to do so, and would add something unique to the game. lofgren
War picks are included in Immersive Weapons http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27644
ObsydianShade
I'm aware, but it's a rather poor design compared to what I'm suggesting, which is more like a real, historical specimen, as it's paired with the hammer.
lofgren
You should probably make it clear in your original post that you are only interested in realistic historically accurate warpicks, because that's not clear at all.
ObsydianShade
I was suggesting a modification of the One Handed Warhammers, which the mod author did give permission for. Strictly speaking, despite its name, I don't consider that...thing in Immersive Weapons to be a pick at, despite the name. It's more like a modified kama than anything else. The thing that actually impressed me about Lautasantinni's mod, was rather than just rescaling all the warhammers to make a one handed version like some did, was he actually took the effort to add the pick ends to those that didn't have them like the Dwarven hammer, as well as the fact he kept most of the heads from reaching a cartoonish size. By and large, I try to use mods, and encourage modders who create historical, or at least practical, types of weapons. In Skyrim it's an uphill struggle, because often what is immersive is of questionable practicality, and vice versa. That said, there are some fine mods out that manage it. One of my favorite, for example, is Insanity's Ebony Sword Replacer: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37645/? which is a hundredfold improvement over the crappy original. Another favorite of mine is Kur0us Ebony Morningstar: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22735/? making that set much improved from the default. Secret of the Silver Blades is yet another, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13804/? winning many kudos for the Szabla alone in that pack, though a couple of the weapons aren't up to the standard of the rest. I'm hoping someone will pick up this idea in the spirit of these other mods. Edited November 24, 2016 by ObsydianShade
