XBox 360 Controller for Windows Question

I use the awesome XBox 360 Controller for Windows to play Skyrim. Works way better than the keyboard, and once you memorize the button layout, you don't even need to look at the controller while playing. Anyway, I got my father one and he is slowly learning it today, but we have one question. Does anyone know how to zoom out with it while in 3rd Person View? You can do this feature with a mouse, but I can't seem to find a way to do it with the controller. Also, for those that have the device, what are the ports on the top and bottom used for? Thanks for the help.

I've only been playing with 360 controller and didn't even know that was possible!

This whole time I've just been using the FOV console command to help with the view angle.

I think its kind of a bad thing that the controller is better to play skyrim with than a mouse and keyboard on the PC version. Console ports, we meet again!

I also use the controller to play skyrim, same with Crysis 2. The last true PC game that will be ported is the witcher 2, and thats why its so great.

A controller is designed for gaming. A mouse and keyboard is not. Thus, controlling with a controller... well, makes sense.

Well, my father gave up on the controller. Even though it makes playing Skyrim so much easier, he prefers the mouse and keyboard. He's stuck in the old ways. I love my controller. I don't even have to look at the buttons while playing since I have them memorized. The only time I use the keyboard is for the command console.

My second question still stands unanswered though. Does anyone know what the ports are for on the top and bottom of the controller?

Old Ways? Is this a joke? Just because you can't type without looking at the keyboard doesn't mean other people can't... Memorizing the hotkeys takes a total of 3-4 hours of gameplay, and you'll never look at the keyboard again.

FTR, I started playing Skyrim with a controller because I played FO3 / Oblivion on xbox... but after Oblivion I knew I should get Skyrim on PC, but I had a hard time transitioning to keyboard. A few weeks ago, I made the switch to keyboard / mouse... and I'm SO GLAD I DID...

The mouse offers INFINITE more precision / speed as opposed to a controller. I won't go much further into this because I believe your statements to be bordering on trolling in regards to the controller being superior to a kb/mouse...

In regards to your second question, the ports are for the battery charger, and the headset.
