gigantibyte
Aside from missing out on unnecessary intermediate speeds, I would be sad to give up my slow motion movements. In 3rd person, it's cool moving very slow because your character still animates in slow motion, especially kewl with explosions behind you or while absorbing souls and such. Inching forward while sneaking in slow motion around scary corners, way kewl too. I can understand this is no big deal to others. Mostly, I just wanted to point this out in response to others claiming a keyboard is more fluid than an analog controller. ...As is, yes. But a mod can fix this disadvantage, by setting speed to the mouse wheel + some key. No mod will ever give the controller player mouse-look. I don't think they have even tried something like a driving game with a keyboard and mouse vs a controller, where one is full throttle or none at all while the other gives you a full range. Just occurred to me, I don't know if I'd enjoy riding a horse as much with a keyboard and mouse, either. Throttle control is just a matter of setting 1 key for + and another for -, and could offer more precision in setting the exact speed you want. Not too many racing games that work well with k+m because of bad programming, but k+m driving controls were exceptionally done well in Borderlands. (Nothing fancy like throttle, handbrake, or gears, but mouse look steering is awesome.)
Symphonicx666
controller is better than a Kb/m for single player games. I hate these discussions. Full of nothing but flamers and trolls trying to beat their chests over a MATTER OF PREFERENCE. It's a single player game. I use the xbox controller too. Can't do it with online games for obvious reasons but if you can't use a controller to get good enough to play a single player game, then you're an idiot. As soon as you say "xbox controller" on one of these forums, all the idiots pop out spouting the usual "oh it's so inaccurate blah blah blah". Honestly it's pathetic. Get over yourselves. Symphonicx666
It's also worth noting that I play my PC version of Skyrim on a 50 inch 3D TV wall mounted in my living room with surround sound behind my lush, custom built suede corner sofa. Am I gonna sit on my sofa with a laptop tray playing games? No because I'm not some chavvy scumbag. So yeah, really love that you enjoy your KB/m combos sitting at a desk and getting a numb backside - keep going at it. My theory is all these little uber geeks who flame people for having an opinion on a controller have been warped from years of being hunched over their messy little desks like gargoyles. Good luck with that, I'll stick to my sofa and also stick to the notion that if you enjoy being hunched up and getting RSI, that's entirely your thing - I really hope you enjoy it, because the amount of time people spend dedicating to flaming people on this subject, says something very clearly about your emotional state. I agree with you that it's a matter of preference, but whether a game is single player or not has no bearing on what device works better. A mouse is more accurate that's true, but I also have access to more buttons, more hotkeys with mod. I can use all 5 digits on my left hand, and 3 digits on my right with my setup. How many digits can you use with a controller? Nobody gets "thumbitus" with k+m. So yeah, really love that you enjoy your KB/m combos sitting at a desk and getting a numb backside - keep going at it. Why do you assume all k+m players are at a desk? My PC is connected to a widescreen TV and I play on the couch with k+m. It's just as comfortable as when I'm using a controller.
