GuymanBot
While I know there are mods like CAGE that let us continue the game after we finish the final quest, it peeves me that there are none that try to change the wasteland depending on who you sided with, which to my understanding was something the author of CAGE wanted to do. And I remember seeing a mod that was trying to do this, but it got taken down for some reason. Which is weird. I have seen a mod that for almost every bit of cut content, except for this. I mean just listen to this dialogue and tell me there is not potential to do something with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCVSztvD8g Like I can see NCR soldiers and citizens occupying certain settlements, Legion camps across the Mojave, Securitrons as far as the eye can see. All the while people comment on your actions while Mr. New Vegas reminds everyone what happened at the Battle of Hoover Dam. What do you guys think? Is this something that could be done? Or is it just something that should be left untouched? Edited November 26, 2016 by Prophetofhurt97
devinpatterson
it peeves me that there are none that try to change the wasteland depending on who you sided with I'v started on some of the endings (NCR, and independent), you can find them under the tag viva new vegas, but most of it is unreleased (gotta pack em up and get em out). They contain minor elements (like changing the penthouse elevator to allow companions in, once Mr. House is dead) to big game world changes (removing battle conditions on the exterior of hoover dam, and the the fort) Originally I wanted to start quests/campaigns post end game, but I'v scaled back my ambitions. I'd also like to see settlement/resettlement, depending on the end game conditions. If you'd like post some ideas you have here or in my other viva new vegas threads and I'll see what I can include/make.
devinpatterson
I'v also pitched an idea for a BOS type end game element that elevates the brotherhood to a major faction via the securitron army (puts them on par with the legion and NCR). If that interests you I believe it's under tags like dawn of steel, rise of the mojave brotherhood of steel.....or something along those lines. GuymanBot
Oh wow. I just barley got a notification that someone responded to this. Well as far as ideas, I only have a few for different endings. With one of the things I would like to look at something like this being the Fallout 2 endings. While the epilogue said a bunch of things, that does not necessarily mean they happen right away.1. NCR- The NCR would probably be the most easiest to implement. I would just put a bunch of NCR citizens and Soldiers in different settlements, minus Novac sense they remain independent if you get the good ending in "Come fly with me". It would also be cool if you had BOS soilders petrol the two highways with the NCR if you succeed in making a truce. Other than that, I am actually kind of stumped.2 Legion- the Legion would probably have two different conditions; Is Caesar or Lanius the leader of the Legion. If Caesar survives the ending I am guessing it would be less choas, maybe only a handful of slaves in each town, and camps all across the Mojave. If Lanius wins, he basically crucifies anyone he sees as a threat, some plenty of people on crosses. I will get back to you on what a Mr.House and independent victory would look like, as well as ideas for a BOS mod. Also note I havent played NV for a while, and need to look back at the epilouges to see what happens in each victory.

So here is that.Independence AND Mr. House would actually be easier than I thought, just put securitrons everywhere. I mean an Independent Vegas would just have them everywhere, and Mr.House only cares about the area around New Vegas, but he would probably send them so he can spy on all of the Mojave. As for that BOS mod idea you had, prepare for a mouthful. It would be interesting, because the Chapter in the Brotherhood does not really care about the Mojave, they only care about technology and nothing else. Their first major step would be to take back Helios One. From there they might have to once again convince other factions to help them take down the NCR, since they are not strong in numbers. Vegas, particularity the Lucky 38, would only be of interest to them due to the amount of Securitrons they could control, so that would be THEIR motivation to kill House. Finally comes the Dam, I don't think I need to say why they would want it. It is the one thing that gives Vegas power, whoever controls that, controls Vegas. Maybe for the battle, after you defeat both sides what happens with the Dam would be up to who is the Elder by the end. If McNamara is elder, he might shut the Dam down, or put it in a state where the Mojave wont be at full power. If Hardin is Elder, he might leave it on out of pity for New Vegas.Once again, the main thing I would like to see is just restoring the cut dialogue that was meant to play once you finished the game. If you would like to hear other ideas, please let me know what your looking for. Edited December 7, 2016 by Prophetofhurt97
devinpatterson
Sorry, been swamped, I'll try and get back to this thread with something semi insightful/partially coherent this weekend.
JoKelly
its a good idea but a lot of work. One of the idea's I had was a quest where the courier either takes it on him/herself to look around for people to set up a city council and negotiate a treaty with the NCR for formal recognition of a Free Nevada and trade ties. (that could lead to lots of opposition from various groups, New Villians, and others who do not want any kind of organized Government they don't control or would be a threat to their activities.) a tie in quest would be to hunt down a military vault with a prewar cache of weapons and organize a Defense force, mostly Desert Rangers who had refused to join the NCR. The WIP I am working on Dogs of War is the pared down story I had written for this idea. Edited December 16, 2016 by JoKelly
madmongo
I'm working on a very large mod that has (as of current count) 7 world spaces. Basically, you'll be able to go from the Hub in the south to Klamath in the north, as far west as Junktown and the Hub (not quite to Necropolis, which I really want to do but that's an 8th worldspace and I've already got too much to do on this mod as it is), and as far east as the capital of the Legion, Flagstaff. At this point you're probably thinking what the heck does this have to do with this thread, but here's the thing. I want to make, as an optional install for my mod, the ability to continue after the main quest and either continue the battle all the way to Flagstaff if you're against the Legion, or take it all the way to Shady Sands if you are for the Legion. In order to do that, what I basically have to do first is exactly what's in this thread, create a mod that taps into the end game and changes the wasteland for whatever ending you chose. I plan on supporting four endings - House, NCR, Yes Man, and Legion. Some of the ideas I had are basically the same as what's already in this thread. For House or Yes Man, the NCR presence at the dam and Camp McCarren will be replaced with securitrons. More securitrons will be added to Freeside, and the thugs will be removed. For the NCR option, securitrons will be removed, the Lucky38 will be closed, and the NCR takes over New Vegas. For the Legion, I don't like the idea that taking the dam automatically gives the Legion all of New Vegas. Sure, it takes out General Oliver and the NCR and New Vegas doesn't really stand much of a chance after that, but I think a Legion player should be able to go on after that and take New Vegas themselves. I have no intention of doing anything with the BoS. What I have so far on this is I've tapped into the endgame and I have it drop the player out in front of the dam, and I'm currently sorting out all of the things around the dam that get totally borked by the existing FNV endgame. For example, lots of fires are added and need to be removed, part of the road disappears and needs to be restored, and stuff like that. I have most of it sorted out but if you go onto the dam then Fortification Hill erupts in flame again so I still have to find out where that's coming from. If anyone is interested, I can release what I've got as soon as I've got all of the Mojave stuff done, before I tack on my own mod stuff to it. I can go ahead and put the Legion in New Vegas too, as that shouldn't take too long. Then you guys can all do whatever you want with it. I'm currently swamped at work and getting home late most nights, so no promises on when any of this will be done. However a thing I want you to consider is the options you want to make to the Mojave. The big thing I made this thread for was mainly to restore the dialogue that I mentioned in the beginning. And as for the NCR and Legion options, I think you are a little off on what they would do. There is little to no reason the NCR would want to shut down the Lucky 38 and securitrons, if anything they would want to use them to their advantage. And the Legion would definitely be interested in Vegas, the epilogue plain right says the leader marches down the strip. The House and Yes Man options sound spot on though, minus thugs being removed. The Followers ending for those options prove that and Independent Vegas is just as chaotic as before. Your ideas are good though, just giving my two cents. madmongo
I agree that the Legion wants New Vegas. I just think it deprives a Legion player of something fun to do if you just give them the Strip. I think a Legion player would want one more quest to take New Vegas itself. Instead of just marching into New Vegas as per the ending slideshow, I think the player would enjoy one more fight to take New Vegas. With Mr. House already dead, the player's only opposition at that point would be the Kings. Even if you have the Kings fight against the NCR, in the slideshows the Legion offers the Kings a chance to join them, but the Kings refuse. So one way or another there's one more fight to be fought here. Yeah, it's a bit anti-climatic after the dam, but still, it's something that I think a Legion player would enjoy. As for removing the thugs, that's based on both the House and the Yes Man endings saying that they cleaned up Freeside in the ending slide shows. For the House ending, it says that the streets became orderly, efficient, and cold. For Yes Man, it says that part of the securitron army was diverted to the Strip to keep order and that any chaos in the streets ended quickly. That said, there seems to be a conflict in the game's slideshows. While the Yes Man and House slides say that securitrons clamped down on the streets and kept order, as you point out, the followers slide says that the followers found an independent Vegas to be more unstable and violent than before. I suppose I can add securitrons to Freeside but leave the thugs in place. As for the NCR using the securitrons instead of destroying them, that makes sense.
