[WIP] Weapon Addition and Replacement Suite (WARS)

That's exactly what I was talking about.

You already know my position on this then. I don't think there's much else I can say. The weapons in WARS are set up quite differently to vanilla weapons; it's not trivial to make an alternate version that changes all that to be like the vanilla game.

I don't have time to make alternate versions that I don't like and won't use myself, like I said in that post. People will be able to use the assets in WARS to make "vanilla" versions of the weapons if they want, though - again, like I said before.

I'm quite sure it's not, at least I don't have that function in my game (and I don't think that I have installed some mod that would have disabled it).

I'm pretty sure the way the vanilla game shows the stat changes is as just (regular-UI coloured) plus or minus symbols of varying number depending on how big the stat change is

(besides of course also showing what the stat would change to (ex. 167 from 155, but the UI itself not showing that that example would be an increase of 12, one has to know/count that oneself)).

That function seen in the L123 vid seems it would be a nice minor convenience, one then not having to count/calculate onself what the exact stat changes would be for any individual weapon mod

(yes, I am a bit lazy with math).

This isn't some big deal, it just caught my eye, I don't intend to ask you to search through all your installed mods (though I don't know how many you have installed) to find this (probably UI I would guess) one mod

(and no, this isn't sarcasm, sorry if it reads like it).

My mod list is kind of a mess since I've just been working on these mods rather than playing. Lots of stuff to add/remove/update.

Having a quick glance over my installed mods though, I've got DEF_UI in there of course, Extra Item Info, HUD Plus Plus... could be one of those?

Alright, I've finished implementing all the universal weapon mods finally - unless I think of some others later on that should be included. It was very tedious to do, but I'm glad to have it in there. Thanks again to kuzi127 for coming up with that system.

Here's the list of universal weapon mods, copy-pasted from the readme draft. I've also updated the second post with this information.

***Universal Weapon Mod System***

- Where appropriate, weapon mods can now be removed from one weapon type (e.g. an AR-15) and attached to a different weapon type (e.g. a Mini-14).

--- Note that in certain circumstances, the game may not allow you to attach a universal mod when it should. Exiting and re-entering the workbench should fix this.

- Below is a list of weapons and the "universal" weapon mods that can be shared between them. There's the occasional exception, but this should give a good idea:

5.56x45mm weapons (AR-15, Mini-14, SA80)

- Muzzles

--- 5.56mm Micro Compensator

--- 5.56mm Three Port Muzzle Brake

--- 5.56mm NT4 Suppressor

- Mag Pulls

--- 5.56mm Mag Pull Sleeve

--- 5.56mm Mag Pull Floor Plate

Weapons with bayonets

(Some exceptions here.)

- Bayonets

--- M2 Bayonet

--- M7 Bayonet

AR-15, SA80

- Magazines

--- STANAG 20 Rd USGI Magazine

--- STANAG 30 Rd USGI Magazine

--- STANAG 30 Rd EMAG Magazine

--- STANAG 60 Rd MAG5-60 Magazine

--- STANAG 100 Rd C-MAG Magazine

- Fore-grips

--- RIS Vertical Foregrip

--- RIS Grip Pod

Rifles/shotguns with a Rail Interface System (RIS)

- Sights/Scopes

--- RIS Heads Up Reflex Sight

--- RIS Railway Reflex Sight

--- RIS M552 Holographic Sight

--- RIS C79 Scope (3.4x)

--- RIS AccuPoint Scope (9x)

--- RIS PVS-4 Starlight Scope (3.6x)

--- RIS PVS-4 Recon Scope (3.6x)

Misc barrel/rail attachments

- Laser Sights

--- RIS DBAL-A2 Laser Sight

--- LPC Laser Sight

- Tactical Lights

--- Rifle G2 Tactical Light

Glock, Skorpion vz. 61, M79, China Lake

- Sights

--- Small Reflex Sight (Dot/Circle)

----- Note that the dot/circle variants use the same "Small Reflex Sight" universal mod. If you want to switch between circle and dot, detach it first or a new one will be crafted from scratch.

Glock, Skorpion vz. 61

- Under-Barrel

--- Pistol UB Laser Sight

--- Pistol X2 Tactical Light

--- Pistol X2 Tactical Light + Laser Sight

Mossberg 590, USAS-12

- Muzzles

--- 12 Gauge Micro Compensator

--- Pipe Gun Pipe Glow Sight

--- Pipe Gun Scope (6x)

--- Pipe Gun Night Vision Scope (4x)

--- Pipe Gun Recon Scope (4x)

I may do some work on PEACE next - those weapon racks, maybe - but I am also kind of feeling the urge to edit the Mossberg and China Lake reload animations like I was talking about earlier. Maybe even revisit the Skorpion equip/reload anims too, because I do think they need it. So that may be on the horizon; we'll see.

Does the Mossberg have a speedloader option? I forget if you mentioned that,or not.

I talked about that in a couple of posts a while ago - the technical obstacles and whatnot.

It's pretty unlikely that I'd ever try to do it, but if I did it would probably be as a "speed-loader" weapon mod that makes it use a different reload animation - one that doesn't support BCR just because of how that reload would work.

Antistar, have you thought about releasing any of the furniture/clothing pieces from PEACE early, kind of an appetizer to the mod being released. I was looking around and didn't see a question regarding anything like the weapon racks or backpacks you're making being offered as standalones as a teaser?

I mean... in the most recent post/s in the PEACE WIP thread at the time of writing you can see me talking about the possibility of releasing the weapon racks at least as a standalone mod. (And I'm right in the middle of working on a wooden rifle rack, actually.)

Most of the clothing/armour in PEACE doesn't really make sense outside of PEACE. The medical braces are part of the medical treatment overhaul, and the backpacks are part of the encumbrance overhaul. (They're also mostly pretty similar to backpacks in already available mods - visually at least.) The new power armour pouches and cargo carriers and whatnot all require changes to a lot of existing power armour pieces, since they're on new attachment slots.

Also as always please see the FAQ in the second post of both threads for my general position on alternate versions. ;)

I apologize, I forgot to check on the PEACE channel to see if you had discussed it at all there. And I definitely know that you're not interested in alternate versions and I don't blame you. The work you're doing is gorgeous, and thinking about that along with the teasers that a couple of other large mods have put out kind of sparked that thought. Just figured I'd ask here to see if there were any thoughts in that direction, and the question has been answered. Thanks for continuing to hammer away at this. It's going to be gorgeous, and closer to I'm sure what a lot of us were hoping the game could be.
