antistar
Given there's only so much time and effort available to you, do you plan to put out some kind of framework or set of guidelines for making weapons compatible/consistent with the WARS weapon mod/damage scheme? For instance you've got no room on your list for a FAL (G3 and M14 pretty well cover that niche), but I'd quite like one and would probably be willing to kludge a .esp together if the option were available. An FN FAL is another weapon I'd like to see in there; I should probably put it on the "possible" list. But yeah, there's the M14... who knows, maybe I'd end up doing an FN FAL instead. Anyway, I've certainly thought about putting together a guide on how to set up a weapon to fit in with the rest of the WARS "system"... once I've sorted out what that system is. ;) It's taking shape, but definitely not concrete yet. The guide would probably be in an article attached to WARS' Nexus page. I do want to make it easy for people to make a weapon work well alongside WARS. (Should they want to.) protatato
Additionally, what if someone wants to replace a replaced weapon? Let's say I want to have the Modular Kalash in place of your game's AK. How feasable would it be to do something like that?
antistar
Yes, that could be done in an add-on plugin. You could either do what I'm doing and override the weapon records (and object mod records and whatnot) themselves - or edit levelled lists, inventories, etc so that your desired weapon shows up instead of whichever one from vanilla/WARS. Incidentally I'm doing the former rather than the latter because I didn't want to potentially still see the Combat Rifle, Combat Shotgun, etc show up thanks to other mods adding them somewhere. I really don't like those weapons.
PatriotGuy
How's the hyponatremia? Did they figure it out?
antistar
Funny you should ask (unless I mentioned this earlier and just forgot about it); I had another outpatients appointment today. Everything still seems fine - blood test results are still absolutely, perfectly normal - and they still don't know what caused it. Best guess is something to do with the cold I was getting over at the time; a chest infection, maybe. I have another check-up in a couple of months, but it seems like mostly a formality. As of today though I'm no longer restricted to 1.5L of water a day, so that's nice.
protatato
Will this mod include any clothing items? I haven't seen it mentioned but it wouldn't surprise me at all if you wanted to. Then again, tons of existing outfit mods exist, and while I wish the base game had more things like the Merc outfits from the previous Fallout titles, the ingame outfits are fine. Moldy
I'd imagine apparel would be well outside of the wheelhouse of a weapon mod.
antistar
There are a few apparel things I'd like to do (eventually), but probably not in WARS, since weapons are its focus. One is a kind of modular set of armour based on the Vietnam War era flak jacket; so the jacket itself plus arm and leg pieces done in the same style, if I can manage that. Load bearing equipment from the same period too. People sometimes ask for something like DTO again - and I can see that it's still popular based on how many people use the port of it in Modern Firearms - so while I'm not super-keen on it right now, I don't know; maybe one day I'll do something in a similar vein for FO4 too. Taking advantage of the modular armour system again, of course. (As a side-note, since Bethsoft abandoned the modular/layered apparel setup after Morrowind, I never expected them to go back to anything like it again. I'm glad that they did.) I do also have some vague ideas on doing a set of power armour based somewhat on some of Keith Thompson's old robot/vehicle designs. That's something I've been thinking about probably as far back as FO3 though... so we'll see if I ever get to it. ;)
PatriotGuy
Yoooo, Keith Thompson'a designs are excellent.
protatato
After you're done with the Mini-14, what weapons do you plan to work on?
