coldarra
Hello all, I've been working on a set of robes made out of some meshes. I put them together in NifSkope, did some alpha editing and they work in game. All is well until here, because now I have some serious clipping problems and I can't seem to be able to fix them. It's driving me mad, seriously :wallbash: Things that I've tried so far: -imported the nif into blender, which didn't work really well because apparently vertices don't like to be touched and my model in game is all messed up after this.-tried scaling/moving the nitrishapes in nifskope but it didn't work out well :( I even tried Mudbox 2011, but that program is so new for me that I can't really do much. I'm new to this and I'm sure the solution is easy but I can't really find it. :psyduck: I'd really apreciate a bit of help here. Happy holidays :D
FavoredSoul
You somehow have mudbox but not 3dsmax? Edited December 29, 2011 by FavoredSoul
coldarra
You somehow have mudbox but not 3dsmax? No, I have both. But I'm more used to blender hotkeys than 3ds max. Do you know how could I fix my problem? :(
FavoredSoul
You're using Blender instead of Max for the sake of a few hotkeys? Learn how to use Max. Its incredibly easy to pick up, unlike Blender (most badly designed interface in the world). You'll never look back.

FavoredSoul
Oh, right, your problem. Well, you're using Blender, that's your problem. If your armor appears totally "messed up" in game after you edited it in Blender is because you didn't take the appropriate steps in Nifskope after you exported it. That is what happens when the armor has bad skin data (i.e., bone weights). If I were you, and I was foolish enough to still use Blender even though I had Max at my disposal (max can make skin data in seconds and is perfectly preserved after exporting), I would start by reading THIS tutorial, and made sure I followed every single step to the T when attempting to make/edit armor for the game. It has all the information you need to know to do it properly, even though you have to run through a few hoops. coldarra
Thanks for the reply! I had some trouble following the post-blender steps so I think i'm gonna follow your advice and try to learn how this works in 3ds max. Looks like I have a lot to learn :psyduck:
FavoredSoul
Doing it in max is a lot easier. Simple to follow tutorials can be found HERE, and HERE. Number 2 is the video tutorial which imo is very very good. Watching someone do something is so much easier on the brain than having to read about it. In fact, that video tutorial is all you need to know, forget the others. Happy modding! Edited December 29, 2011 by FavoredSoul
