skyler14
So I am trying to practice doing some retextures for different armors/clothes, and am using the CS5 DDS plugin tool to do my work. But when it comes time for me to save my work this menu comes up:http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/39/32283934.png/What format dds file should i save high-res textures.I've tried using 8.8.8.8 ARGB but the armor get transparent as you move away from it.Also what format should use to save the normal maps:http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/715/47775889.png/Should i always match the two? FavoredSoul
Whether using Photoshop of Gimp, have a look at your channels window. If there is no alpha channel save your textures as DXT1 - No Alpha. If there IS an alpha channel save your textures as DXT5 - Interpolated Alpha. This same principle applies irrespective of whether you are looking at a Diffuse texture, Normal Map texture, or any other kind of texture file. This is a basic answer. Have a look at THIS thread second post down for more detailed information. Edited December 29, 2011 by FavoredSoul
