IGRYish
I just recently downloaded Fallout 3: Game Of The Year from steam. However, let alone the fact that the GECK doesn't work, none of the mods I download seam to show up. I' have both extracted and simply put the downloaded zip in C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3/GeMM/Data. How can I fix this problem? RuaDragonheart
You are installing them using FOMM's Package Manager, right? Moving the zips into a folder alone does nothing.
IGRYish
Nope, I wasn't using it at all. How would I go about installing mods through it? Do I extract them to a temporary file after they're downloaded?
RuaDragonheart
Nope, I wasn't using it at all. How would I go about installing mods through it? Do I extract them to a temporary file after they're downloaded? Go into FOMM, open up its Package manager, then press "Add FOMod". Select the zip or rar you want to use. If it tells you you need a special script, then you'll need to unpack it elsewhere and use "Create From Folder" in the Add FOMod drop box. Otherwise, hit yes or no to the backup, and the mod should appear on the list. Double-click the mod in the Package manager to install it.
BlackRampage
Ah. Although Rua is correct about using FoMM to install those mods, there's another problem you need to deal with first: You've installed FoMM in the Fallout 3 directory, yes? Un-install it, then re-install it into the "C:/Program Files (x86)" folder. It's the number 1 reason why your mods don't show up in FoMM.

FOMM's description (Troubleshooting) says that FOMM has issues with Win7/Vista because FO is installed in the default "...(x86)" folder. It recommends "C:\Games\Bethesda\Fallout 3" and then installing FOMM in the same folder alongside "fallout3.exe" (from Help>Readme in FOMM). This is especially true with the Steam version of FO. Be seeing you... ---> TBC (turn bolt CAREFULLY)
BlackRampage
Well, you're right about the fact that it's indeed better to install FO3 to some other folder then the "Program Files" folder (unless you completely disable UAC), but it's not the reason why the OP's mods don't show up. and then installing FOMM in the same folder alongside "fallout3.exe" (from Help>Readme in FOMM).Well, if I recall correctly, installing FoMM into the Fallout 3 folder only worked on older versions of FoMM. What version of FoMM do you use? Cause I've been unable to find the line where it recommend to install FoMM in the Fo3 folder. So either you're using an older version of FoMM or that particular part of the readme was never updated.Actually, scratch that. I have found the particular line that says that. I have the retail version of Fo3 so I wouldn't be able to check that, but one might wonder why it doesn't matters to FoMM where you've installed FONV. And the only way to install and play FONV is by using steam. Seemt to that particular line was simply never updated. I'll even dare to take it even further: I have a feeling the latest version of FoMM won't even care if you've installed a steam version of FO3 / FONV on a completely different partition / hard-disk altogether.
