djcdavid
Hello, As I indicated I am new to moding. I have experience with portal 2 and did some unpublished work for myself in Skyrim. But I am going deeper then I ever have before and am a little lost. I want to modify a static object in the game (Fallout 4) but I cant seem to find any of the .nif files for the game. I found some in Skyrim but they are not in the same place in fallout 4. The "in game" model editor just brings me to the my documents folder, and I cant seem to locate them any where within the fallout 4 folder.any assist would be appreciated. Ps. Please Try to stay away from technical terms since I may not understand what some may mean, in other words Moding for dummies. Thanks in advance. damanding
The nif files are packed inside .ba2 files in your data directory. You can use this tool to extract them: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/78/? The vanilla nifs are in fallout 4 - meshes.ba2 and -meshesextra.ba2. The DLC meshes are in their main.ba2 files. djcdavid
Thanks for the link, still sounds a little over my head, But I will give it a try. Also, do you know how much the Skyrim creation kit tutorials will help me with the fallout 4 kit. Since there is no tutorial for the fallout kit yet? Edited December 7, 2016 by djcdavid
