mupetmower
So up until this morning, Skyrim SE was running SOOOOO well. I was seeing no visible lag or stuttering, or anything like that, and was playing with high and a few ultra graphics setting. I am also playing with some mods, but maybe only one of two that affect graphics/textures and stuff. most are gameplay mods. So this morning i reset my laptop, and once it was back on I opened SSE and started playing. I noticed a huge drop in frame rate. I dont know what the hell happened. just last night it worked amazingly. I made no changes to any mods or settings or anything. NOTHING! So i have no idea what happened to it. I was very pleased with how well it was working up until this morning. My laptop has Intel Core i7 -4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60GHz, 16GB ram, 64-bit Operating System(Win 10), x64-based proccessor, and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M graphics card. I dont have extensive knowledge about all this kinda stuff, but i do know that with 16 gig ram and this fairly decent graphics card that this should run with a modest fps. i mean, i know this isnt the most impressive computer or graphics card, but i have seen other people run SSE just fine with worse setup. I didnt have an fps counter running yesterday(or anytime before then, when it was working very well), but i downloaded one so i could see what its doing today, and it seems to cap around 28fps when im standing still and will go down into the low teens when im moving/looking around. it is very frustrating since it wasnt giving me any trouble before today. I even dropped the graphic settings down quite a bit and am still having this issue. really dont know whats going on.. Anyone know what could be going on? If needed i can give a list of my active mods, but i am thinking it is something else since it worked perfectly yesterday.
Pelcron
Has your game defaulted to using the intergrated graphics?
mupetmower
im not sure how to tell if it has? however, the very next day i did a system restore to the week before, re-downloaded a few things that were lost from doing that, re-downloaded the most up-to-date driver for my graphics card, changed some of the ini settings to how i like them, got back on the very same save file and it started working fine again.. i really dont know what happened.. but it runs almost 100% better than it was now, except for in highly populated areas, where it dips a little, but then goes back to normal. i forgot to re-download the fps display-er(because i cant get the steam setting that is supposed to show it to work), so im not sure at what fps it is running now, but it seems like it is at least 30+ even at its lowest. In all honesty, it may cap at 30 since i think it does that normally? because i havent change any of the ini settings or anything else that un-caps the fps. need to do some more research on all of that so i can get it to run at a higher fps. but at least im satisfied with it as of now.. hopefully it wont revert back to how it was the other day when i made this thread. jones177
Hi In the old game low framerate would get into a save. Test with new character or older save. In this game I sometimes get low frame rate after exiting menus. reloading a save fixes it. I use Skyrim Se Performance Monitor to see what my hardware is doing. It also has a frame counter.
