eltucu
Ah yes, pretty annoying. For me its more like a line in between. I think it has more to do with lighting distance. Umm... Test these three: fSpecularLODStartFade=2000.0000fShadowLODStartFade=4000.0000fLightLODStartFade=8000.0000 Set the first to ten thousand and see what happens, then the 2nd one, and so on. (it has probably something to do with the first two, the third is more for light sources rendering distance i guess). Once you find out if they do something, then re adjust to taste. AstroCat
Doing some homework people have mentioned: fShadowBiasScale but so far it hasn't made any real difference. I'll check out your suggestions and report back. Edited January 31, 2012 by AstroCat

Mookeylama
arg, i'm getting this same thing. i call it a "wave" of shadow that follows me. it's lighter than normal shadows tho. but worse, when the wave comes into contact with an object like a bush or low rock, then that object suddenly gets shadows. so i get this lousy shadow pop-in. hate it. anyone get a fix? blitzen
That stuff is all configurable in the .ini file. There are trade-offs, however. The video looks more like a specular issue than a pure shadow issue. In fact, it looked to be more related to producing fog/mist effects than shadows. And the behaviour you get will depend greatly upon what your lighting is. Many people use an ENB. I use Realistic Lighting, which makes significant changes to lighting/shadows. I do not see that effect at all, but it looks like something from the vanilla lighting with vanilla settings. I seem to recall odd effects like that when I first started playing. Skyrim requires a bit of tweaking before it looks decent and doesn't have any blatantly odd shadow/lighting/specular effects that are distracting. For some helpful information, look at this mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7638 . That is for ultra shadow settings. The author also has versions posted for medium and high settings.
