MidnightSilk
I ask this because currently there are almost 28000 topics in this Technical forum. Of which I am sure the same question has been asked quite a few times on various subjects. My Title choice is self motivated, I do not have hours of patience to cruise the forums for the questions I have, nor hours to "Google" for them as well. Let alone the computer Savvy to ask the questions the right way to get useful answers that I can understand it would seem. So I appeal to all the experts, yes I mean you who have been Modding for ages, playing Skyrim since Modding was introduced, and now take for granted that what you find easy or second nature others really have know idea. Mt history is simple, I played Skyrim before Modding was introduced, explored the whole map with no Mods, then Mods were introduced, back then people may remember Mods were a real risk, Nexus was only a Baby and many options from other sites seemed easier. (Yes I killed my game, so I moved on rather than persist). The re-introduction of Skyrim, has done a couple things. But the main is it has brought back the old Skyrim fans, we know the game, we love the game, and we want to enhance it to the greatness many of you Veterans have managed to accomplish over time. So I would like to make a suggestion; 1. Create a pinned How to guide to the top (hell lock it so questions have to be posted instead)2. Start it with the "Back Bone" (core) needs to begin Modding, for example (This is from what I have so far discovered through trial and error, oh and a lot of frustration) A Mod Organizer (put up links to the 2 most endorsed, brief explanation of each, and a starter link to Installation instructions, and a user Guide (remember that its a beginner here))3. The Core Mods (SKSE, LOOT, BOSS, I'm sure there are a few more) Again Links, brief explanation, Guides. Once a person has all these sure they may go it alone again its their choice. But again the Core or "Back Bone" once done opens the door to Modding. A beginner needs to realize decisions have to be made before going Down Load ballistic. For example, Characters (usually the first thing a new player looks at)1. Choosing a Body (Links, and so on) 2. Maybe considering downloading in an order that would assist in Load order (I mean lets face it, there are so many great Mods to chose from, but would you down load CBBE first or the CBBE Body Slide Workshop first, oh wait I need Hair and Make-up as well, see what I mean?)3. Would Player appearance be first though, or should a Skeleton be first, or ENB? A returned and a new player can find Modding very frustrating, without the very first, very basic steps made known to them. What should take maybe an hour to setup can take hours instead without guidance. Often ending with the game crashing before it even loads.(Yes so far 3 days trying to set up a basic then adding a couple Mods only to crash, oh and I did load LOOT ran it and well lets just say the ???Edit and page link to fix timed out every time on loading or just plain didn't work). So again Why not a basics guide pinned to the top, with the information on how? With most importantly easy to understand Guides and Links. The biggest benefit to you, the experts is a very appreciative new or returned player, and by for more time for you to play the game you love instead of answering the same questions over and over again. DoctorKaizeld
Why is there not a Beginner to Advanced Guide to Modding Pinned to the top?... wrong forum... this is for tech support not modding. go here and try again: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/forum/420-skyrim-mod-talk/ read the pinned threads and have a nice day. snelss0
You can have the most advanced amazing guide in the world, but people will still come here and post because they didn't read the guide. That being said, by the simple guide right now, about 90% of our issues stem from people not even following that guide, so a more advanced guide would appeal to very few. Still, it couldn't hurt. I wouldn't mind a guide on how to blend neck textures to get my males looking without neck seam or would have enjoyed some other small bits of information along the way, but my experience (and I wouldn't call myself an expert) came from the trial and error of modding. Now I'm sorting my own mods before LOOT can even deal with them and helping lots of people on here. That came from hitting quite a few walls myself and persisting. MidnightSilk
Thank you for the advice but;A new player or a returning player would look to the game Forums they are concerned about, ie for me its Skyrim. What I am asking for is a logical place to put information for a beginner. You are right though re-directing a new play via a Link as you did is useful, that in fact could be put in the Guide. Especially as there isn't anything really like what I am suggesting even on that forum.
