Animae Skyrim

you know when CK comes out there will be a few Animae things come out few clothes weapons even bodies, but why stop there wouldn't be a total strech to do a weapon, npc, armour, animal, even buildings, overhaul i kept waiting for somone in oblivion to do that but never happened...

I have to think that's because people take months to turn out new textures for a few suits of armor and weapons, and you're hoping they'll do it to every object--hundreds of thousands--in the entire game. Everybody should have their dreams, but as dreams go, this one isn't going to happen. You may learn texturing yourself, and perhaps produce a nice shop, or a guild filled with anime-style clothing; there are a few of those in Oblivion. Check out Colourwheels' stuff via the advanced search menu.

Anime just means animation, and comes in several styles.

Anime also is ued to refer to a specific style of Japanese animated artwork, at least as it's understood by the OP: "Few clothes weapons even bodies, but why stop there wouldn't be a total strech to do a weapon, npc, armour, animal, even buildings..." In other words, the Japanese anime appearance. And there's precedence on a very small scale in Oblivion for this, but certainly nothing remotely attempted on the scale of a game-remake.

I am assuming we all have a similar idea of what anime looks like as a kind of stylized animation. I was just wondering out loud why someone would want to transplant that into skyrim? The visual style of Skyrim has nothing to do with anime. I guess if someone really likes Smurfs they would be interested in a mod that transplants them to Skyrim too. I'm curious to hear the OP's thoughts on why he or she wants anime in a game that looks nothing at all like an anime themed game. I'm not trying to be overly critical, I'm just curious.

If that sort of thing appeals then why not? modding is all about changing the game to suit your own preferences.

It is just a matter of personal choice. I wouldn't want it, but that's no reason somebody else should follow my impressions. All the more power to them in getting what they want made. I just don't see it as realistic to desire a complete remake of Skyrim in anime terms, given the sheer amount of effort required to redo over 100,000 items in 3D space.

I would invite the person who desire this to wait a few weeks for the construction set, then set themselves the task of creating, say, 10 well made anime items from their current counterparts in the game. Just to see how intensive the process is.

lol well considering someone is attempting to make a graphics overhaul to make skyrim look like the first elder scrolls game "low graphics" and there are hundreds of LOTR mods... is animae really that hard to imagine in an overhaul mod?

What you're describing, Quietwinds67, is (if I recall correctly) going to employ low polycount replacements that are relatively easy to generate in great quantity, because some of the processes can be automated. It's easier than what you propose because it doesn't replace meshes, and doesn't require hand-redrawn textures. Your idea does, on both counts.

I apologize in advance if I've gotten the content of the overhaul in question wrong, but you haven't supplied a filename, and I went for the one I know. I also know of several graphics overhauls in Morrowind and Oblivion that have done this. They still took months to do, but they didn't require the replacement of literally every object in the game, as yours does.

i have no illusions that what i am purposing will time time, and a lot of work, i did quite a few mods for oblivion, and when the CK comes out i will add some to this "sorry not a source code programmer need the ck" but i have plenty of experiance with both poser and 3dstudio max "poser has some great stuff that could be converted" far as the buildings and such a simple retex or mabey even not that is needed since most animae's set in the fantasy time periods share simlar looks, and many elements would stay the same i am not looking to create a cartoon game i want a animae with realism and if you ever looked at the poser files for i think the figure is called meko "from daz3d" you will see you can acheive a life like look for animae charaters

I like anime, y'know japanese anime.

But making skyrim anime like people did with oblivion, that just ruins the game...

I came here to play as a badass medieval game, not a japanese manga one.
