attilaofnazareth
i thought i would write an interactive sci-fi tale where i hope some of you will try to guess what is going on and where it is going ect. any ideas welcome. i hope to take the technology to a different level way ahead of star wars and star track etc? hopefully even with your best detective abilities i will keep you from working it all out before the climax! i have only written this part... is it worth continuing? ...and how bad is the grammar? the obsidian moonchapters1. prosopopoeia. the chapter of the mentor and guide to another place.2. pseudoblepsia. of traversing the other world after initiation.3. the isochron. where all ends meet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- chapter 1, page:1there was darkness, i thought i was asleep yet i was fully conscious, surrounding me was an obsidian sphere which grew until it no longer had a surface whatsoever. it was not a caliginous darkness it was transparent and appeared to stretch into infinity. i could touch and feel the nothingness, as i looked around i wanted to get out although strangely i felt no angst, i noticed i was floating and with the idea of escape i moved forwards with the realising thought ~ “i can fly”! my movements were refection of my thought, i went upwards if i thought upwards, more than that things began to happen according to my direction. so i went upwards and to the left, gradually i saw a mist of vague colours arise before me, then a voice “ah your here”! with that the colours melded and formed into shapes becoming ever clearer, i realised i was now sat in a chair ~ a very grand chair of teal coloured satin cloth surrounded by ornate oaken woodwork finely sculptured in a design i had never encountered. upon looking around i became aware of an immense cavernous room, from the base upwards moving from opaque to translucent with colours ranging from deepest purple through dark turquoise, then light with a deep flame red rippling through like veins of fire. at its top the room became more transparent having a stained glass effect on the eye and in shades of dark pink and mauve. 2i could see no exit nor windows of any description! the whole place looked as if it had been formed as one as if molten materials had merged without join or division of any kind. i was so taken back by the scale and grandeur that i had not noticed from the corner of my eye, a man sat in a chair to my right. upon meeting eyes he said, ‘hail great wanderer’, ‘oh hello’, i replied nervously and with some degree of awe, ‘do you know why you are here’, ‘i don’t even know where or what here is!’ i replied. he was a long slim old man with flowing highly decorative garments with symbols along the trims of his cloak, humanoid and almost the same as us but strangely different, as if evolved from another species perhaps similar to apes but more hmm, bear like i suppose. in a soft voice he asked my name, ‘rik, and yours is?’ ‘tjch`e, [j] i am to be your mentor in this realm’, ‘ah so we are in a realm of some kind’ i retorted. ‘well, i have no means of comparison, i could tell you that this is another world or dimension but as i don’t know where you are from it is essentially incomparative, all i know is that my dreams and visions have told me someone would come and from another place’. in reply i said; ‘that is interesting as i have had visions too, telling me that i would be going on a long journey and to somewhere no-one had ever been before’. after explaining my experience i asked if he knew what the obsidian sphere was, to which he replied ‘i have no idea, i presume that it is something like the orbs in which the spirit is carried to different realms or worlds in your own realm. thus being somewhat more physical ~ at least to begin with, one can only conclude that it is a travel device designed by erm someone or something in your universe, although we cannot say to where it brought you. we could be anywhere ~ he laughed’! 3‘so what is this place you have here’? i asked, ‘it is my temple, where i do all my work and meditations. before you ask [he said as if reading my mind], my work is very complex and difficult to define, we must talk about your world that i can make comparisons’. thence for the rest of the day we chatted about our everyday worlds, he didn’t tell me much of his but listened intently to all i said about mine. the day drew to a close as i could tell by the feel and by the light dimming around us, he stopped my conversation by exclaiming; ‘your world sounds like it is full of fools ...but there is also much wisdom’, indeed, that sounds about right i replied. ‘so on to my work and your reason for being here. the only way i can put it to you in a manner you will understand, is that here we can manipulate reality as you would in your world with special effects for films and computer games etcetera. the very fabric of existence can be change in virtually any manner one chooses, and believe me it is! there are many worlds in our galaxy with beings of great power, however their numbers are but a few in comparison with the multitudes. i suppose a decent analogy would be that we are like your ancient gods ~ except we are not gods and anyone can have the powers of transformation, it is just that only some can utilise them in a new way’. you talk about galaxies much as i would, so you do live in the same universe as me? ‘except according to your science, you cannot do what we can. this may mean that either your science, ehem, isn’t very advanced ~ he said mockingly, or that we exist in two different universes? 4‘if you imagine that virtually everything has been tried, for example; in the ancient wars we tried every conceivable weapon and defence. at the end of the wars there were a few people on each planet who were considered as ‘lords of change’ or as we call them ‘sequeth-tarrai’, an equilibrium was found and ever since we have had peace, ...of sorts! we have had this peace now for over a million years, however when a sequeth-tarrai dies, which is approximately every millenium, then the seqa lords ~ that’s our abbreviation ~ have to re-establish themselves and find a new lord to replace the now dead one. often this is mainly peaceful, but a new lord must be tested! no one will accept them if they cannot prove their worth, in the past an arena was built to this end so as to keep the troubles away from peaceful people. now though we have a problem, for the first time nine lords all died within a year of one another, we cannot even be sure if that is purely fate! whatever the cause we are in deep trouble, the nine new lords have taken it upon themselves to challenge the old order calling it weak and impotent. forming an alliance against the remaining nine seqa lords ~ who are not exactly on terms, they have built an academy of war there they test out their powers and try new weapons and tactics upon the peaceful citizens on nearby worlds. the nearest analogy to your world i can think of would be a system much like the spartans, except these people can tear suns apart!’ 5‘your purpose then is to give us new ways of thinking, new ideas to challenge the supremacy of the lords and hopefully bring us to a new way of being without lords ~ even me!’ ‘ah so you are one such lord’ i asked inquisitively ‘obviously’ he retorted sharply as if i had said something wrong, ‘sorry, i expect people to not state the obvious that is all’, ‘no problem’ i replied. ‘indeed, you should be able to look at someone and know what they are, what level of advancement they are on, there desires and as to weather or not they have ill intent’. ‘oh, so you want me to be telepathic’, ‘yes! ok so it is impossible to exactly know these things but in time you will learn to read people like a book, it is an essential skill’. changing the subject to my immediate situation i asked why the room had no doors, ‘eh, it is a door ! ...for me anyway, just not for anyone else. outside of here we are vulnerable, i would never had been able to protect you from inquisitive eyes, eventually the seqa-de ~ thats what we call the new lords, would hear about you and try to destroy you’. ‘oh my, we cannot have that can we’ i said with a hint of humour. he looked up and laughed, ‘no, death isn’t very good for you, it tends to hurt and it takes ages to get you back again’. i was startled at the idea of coming back again, as he noticed in my eyes... ‘you get a millenium, if you die before your due time it can be possible to get you back, we just traverse the spirit realms until we find you then give you a new body, it is a pain though as new bodies take a while to brake-in. i see you now want to know; why a millenium? well after a thousand years or so the spirit is no longer willing to come back or to exist here, its as simple as that. in fact most people don’t like it much past four hundred’. no i am sure they don’t, i said feeling slightly bemused. 6 ‘and now for your first lesson... after which i will take you outside to places in this world, but first you must learn the basics’. J [tgch’e] then performed a swooping motion of his hand, upon which there was a mist, as it dissipated i became aware that we were in another place, this time i could see doors and windows, it was most cathedralic but oval with long winding corridors almost as high as the main hall and curving away from the eye into oblivion. ‘what is this place’ i enquired, ‘a training areas i just made for you’, intrigued i asked, ‘oh is it next door to your place’, ‘no, my place no longer exists’. ‘on to the training then’ J stated with a brisk walk towards one of the many exits... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ if you want more just ask and with your help i’ll write the next chapter in part one of the book! its just for fun tho. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ notes; word meanings... pseudoblepsia n. false or imaginary vision.isochron an isogram connecting points at which something occurs or arrives at the same timeprosopopoeiaA figure of speech in which an absent or imaginary person is represented as speaking

A few words of advice since you asked, Always give your work to a friend for spell checking or simply use a program with it built in. Also whenever writing dialog always start a new line with each new speaker. Other than that I would say you are on your way to becoming a hell of a writer if that is what you choose to do.
