mrdumbass
Hello to allIve been a PC gamer on and off since about 2003 when I got my first Compaq Presario. This wasn't a gaming PC by any means, but it did open me up to the wonderful world of fixing, breaking, fixing again, staying up all night trying to fix it etc...It led me to my first PC build, an Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz, 478 Asus mobo, ATI All in wonder etc. That's around the time when I got into UT2004 and SimCity4, two games that I still play on a regular basis. So for the past 6-7 years, Ive been out of the gaming scene, until last year when my previous Core2 set up died on me. I got myself a Phenom II x2 550 black edition, unlocked the cores (hence the X4 50) and got an ATI 5670 this year. Then, my daughter was born, which games me plenty of time to stay up and get back tino PC gaming. So now im checking out all the classics. I finally got a chance to (almost, just a liiiiitle more) finis HL1, and FEAR. after that Ill concentrate on HL2 and the episodes that follow it.Just got Oblivion a few months ago during a steam sale. Loving it so far. I also picked up The Witcher. I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to RPGs, and in all honesty, I never have heard of Oblivion prior to Skyrim. I'm going to try to play Oblivion without any mods besides some dealing with UI, as I don't want to get to far away from the original experience..That's about it
Iv000
I got myself a Phenom II x2 550 black edition, unlocked the coresAwww, lucky you. I've had the same CPU and it wouldn't let me unlock the 4th core. Also, you might have a few problems playing vanilla Oblivion. The level scaling is horrible.I suggest installing Francesco's leveled creatures and items mod: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2518 Oh, by the way. Welcome to the Nexus! :)

Welcome to the Nexus! :) I was able to unlock a stable 3rd core. The 4th causes instability with my internet, as well as random crashes and artifact in windows explorer and applications, we I stick to a 3core@ 3.10GHz...As soon as I am able to, I will be getting a Bulldozer, and a nice 8 or 16 GB kit of DDR3, since there so cheap, why not...I love the fact that I can still use my AMD on a newer board with the DDR3, since the chip uses both DDR2 & DDR3...Thanks for the tip on the mods. I did about an hr of oblivion this afternoon...seems pretty good so far. Thanks for the welcome!
