Kiddgimmick
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First off, I want to say that I have always been a console gamer prior to this PC, however I have always been an avid PC and Mac user. I played FO4 on PS4 with a legit level 110 character until I bought the Far Harbor DLC and the Fog was tanking my fps so badly, I decided to finally invest in a rig for PC gaming. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Specs are as Follows: Intel Quad Core i5 5600K @ 3.5 GHz - Gigabyte BIOS - OC 4.4 GHz - Watercooled Never Exceeds 50C Nvidia GTX 1070 SC 8Gb - MSI Afterburner - OC +100 MHz Core Clock /+500 MHz Memory Clock - Stable in Valley and Heaven Benchmarks indefinitely at 60fps 1080p - Max Settings - Never Exceeds 60C 24Gb Dual Channel Memory 2133MHz DDR4 - XMP Profile Enabled Gigabyte LGA1151/ Intel Z170/ DDR4/ SATA3&USB3.1/ATX Motherboard 120 GB SSD 1 Tb HDD Windows 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ READOUT from SystemRequirementsLab.comProcessorIntel® Core i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHzManufacturerIntelSpeed3.5 GHzNumber of Cores4 Memory RAM24 GB Video CardNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070ManufacturerNVIDIAChipsetGeForce GTX 1070Dedicated Memory8.0 GBTotal Memory8192 MBPixel Shader Version5.1Vertex Shader Version5.1Hardware T & LYesVendor ID10DEDevice1B81Plug and Play IDVEN_10DE&DEV_1B81&SUBSYS_61733842&REV_A1Driver Version21.21.13.7619 Operating SystemMicrosoft Windows 10 (build 14393), 64-bitService Pack0Size64-bit Version10.0.14393Locale0409 BIOSF4VersionAmerican Megatrends Inc. In the wasteland I get 60fps like 80% of the time. So 20% of the time I am either stuttering or transitioning between 30fps and 40-50fps. In the city I get 60fps 50% of the time and the remaining 50% I am lucky to maintain 30+fps. This problem seems to be consistent across many factors regardless of:Game settings : Low with no extra options vs ultra with the worksMods: I have done 5 complete restarts with the game and a fresh install - no mods enabled - No ENB - No Shadow Boost - No Ultra Godrays Fix - No Texture ModsINI Settings with Fallout 4 Tweaker by Bilago : Turning everything off from particle effects to no draw distance on shadows to No DoFOther games seem to run completely normal. I play Skyrim SSE modded with a consistent 60fps, but that is to be expected. I play MMO's and MOBA's with 120+fps easily. I play CSGO, Rocket League, State of Decay, and Dragon's Dogma, games with older graphics engines, with consistent fps. I run DOOM on Extreme at 144fps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have toyed with FO4 enough to realize it has a lot to do with the height of the rendered objects (and how populated they are: Trinity Tower, Corvega Assembly Plant, etc. ) as well as the draw calls within a specific POV/FOV. I have read mulitple accounts of people getting a consistent 60fps throughout the game. My question is - Am I doing something wrong or Do these numbers make sense? Should I upgrade to an SLI configuration in order to enjoy this game and have it be visually appealing at the same time? Is there a possibility of a mod coming out that could remedy this problem or is it even possible? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please, please, please...if there is anyone....I LOVE FALLOUT....anyone with the insight to cure me of this sickness.....I would be forever grateful :/
Fraym
If you run the game from HDD, that might be bottlenecking when loading new areas.Very unusual... I also run a 1070 and can run a solid 60 everywhere. But then again I also run the game off SSD.

Would you happen to know if an internal SSD is significantly better than an external SSD?

Would you happen to know if an internal SSD is significantly better than an external SSD?Due to the fact that an internal ssd is connected over sata and an external via usb... Yes, an internal one would be much faster. External drives are normally always slower due to the use of usb compared to sata.

Thanks for the info...Finally, I actually fixed the issue with some info from the steam forums...Someone basically said that while FO4 was running at 45fps the game seemed to run very choppy as if it was running more like 20fps...So, I used Riva to cap my fps at 45 and ran DOOM and I noticed while running under 60 the game was noticeably smoother than FO4...This person went on to say they experienced microstutter in Fullscreen, which was eliminated by windowed borderless....Then they noticed heavy stutters in borderless when loading cells, textures, etc as a side-effect.....I could agree as by default, in fullscreen the side to side motion was making me sick with the microstutter, but the bit about heavy stutters in windowed borderless was new info to me, but I had experienced it for SURE....sometimes 3-4 seconds of screen freezes...so I uncapped the framerate in Riva...Then I proceeded to do a few things I am sure I had done before for testing purposes... I used Fallout 4 Tweaker by Bilago to turn off VSync...Set Nvidia control panel with global adaptive VSync....installed ENB for the stability patch only....opened the original launcher and set the game to fullscreen...LOW AND BE F***ING HOLD MY CHILDREN!!!...Smooth as BUTTER...Transitions from 60-45 fps.....smooth...60fps more often...check....side to side motion sickness...forgedaboutit....THE GAME RUNS GREAT!!! Made my own ENB preset....Make my own Reshade preset....max settings (with Shadow Boost)....over 100 mods...all while maintaining 60fps in interior locations while not even once dropping below 45fps running through Boston! IN CONCLUSION : my theory is that the stability patch corrects the microstutter occuring in fullscreen...not the heavy stutter in windowed borderless...If this is common knowledge to everyone else, ignore this...but for me this fixed the issue.. and I mean like on a scale of: BEFORE: This game is not enjoyable AFTER: Drooling over the graphics while maintaining all the core elements of gameplay! PLEASE: If you are having issues try this!
