Vootins
Hey all,Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help. Currently I am having a weird problem. It seems like the torso of my character and all NPCs have been restricted to some sort of super low-res texture setting. It's worse than the vanilla textures. This applies to the bodies, armors, and any clothes worn on the torso - all characters. Whether a standard game item or a mod, torsos and worn torso items look blurry and pixelated. This is especially weird since it means the game is somehow lowering the quality of textures created by modders, including all the items in theImproved NPC Clothing mod. I can tell the mod textures are being used by the color, but the items have become blocky and blurry. All faces, gloves, boots, and hats/helmets still look as they should.Things I have tried: Using virtually every video/texture setting offered through the Skyrim start-up Options. Deleting several of the install files and then having Steam verify/re-download the install. Deleting the contents of the data folder and using NMM to re-activate the mods I use. Activating different texture mods. None of these made any difference.Help, please. Edited December 26, 2017 by Vootins
Vootins
I'm adding pictures. Hope this helps. I've now totally reinstalled and started a new game. http://skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/2929789-1325627752.jpg http://skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/2929789-1325626278.jpg Note the low-res Prisoner clothes in the first and the blockiness and weird resolution on Rolof's body (but not on his face, hands, boots). I currently have no mods applied.
Celt43
I forgot to mention that after the last patch my Skyrim options for graphics "etc" had reset? I use the ultra setting and all other setting to the highest levels. After the last tiny patch my settings had gone back to default? No idea why or if the patch was to blame. Reinstall your graphics card drivers, I had a glitch once in Fallout3 where the textures were blurred or see through and the reinstall of the video card drivers fixed it. Worth a try. The Nexas mod manager failed me once when adding a face mod, it failed to deactivate it. So I check each time now to be sure. If I can I manually install mods. ... If you still have the problem could you save your "save games" and your favorite mods and uninstall Skyrim and delete all reference to skyrim and re-install? Then add your saved "save games" back and your mods you like and know they work ok. Drastic I know but in the long term it maybe the only way? The .ini files within the save game folder can get corrupted. Some time these little glitch's can be a real pain to track down. When I refer to a uninstall-reinstall I mean track down all folders, files in reference to skyrim and delete. As often when a game is uninstalled it leaves certain folders and .ini files behind. The save game folder is one such area to check after uninstalling. Can you take a saved game to another computer and test in case your saved games have the corruption now imbedded. If you start a new game does it still happen. ??? PS: Are any other games you own working fine with their graphics, textures ? Good luck..
Vootins
Thanks for the advice Celt43. I tried some similar things recently. I wish any of my other computers could handle Skyrim. In any case, I solved the problem. Rather, it was solved while I messed with stuff. I changed all my driver settings in Catalyst Control Center to the best and then all those in Skyrim to max all at once. This didn't work at first and then I restarted once more and it was fixed! But I couldn't reproduce the problem after. I assumed it must be the texture filtering setting in CCC or the one in Skyrim. But when I set these back down to low, it didn't cause the problem again. Oh well. at least it got fixed. Thanks!

3thereal
Wish I could say I had the same success. I tried just about everything, posted comments here on this post too http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/474399-after-installing-some-mods-my-textures-look-incredibly-low-res-seemingly-irreversible-help/page__p__3889268__fromsearch__1#entry3889268 I've still gotten nowhere. Everyone keeps saying to change the texture filtering settings in CCC, but that doesn't make any difference for me :(
Chadamius
I ran into the same problem. Very annoying! Edit: I was able to solve the problem by following the advice from above. On startup I went to options. Changed everything to Ultra. And it solved it. Then I was able to turn the settings back down. tnguye3
What graphic card do you use?If you use ATI, try open up the catalyst and manually set the mip mapping, AA and anisotropic filtering to your standard settings as if it would be your options in skyrim by unchecking "use application settings" hope this helped
dalmp
Brilliant. I spent countless hours trying to figure this out.I tried just about everything. Different CCC CAPs, different textures, uninstalling, reinstalling. For some reason it never occurred to me to set anti aliasing and ansitropic filtering to max (since you aren't supposed to do this with ENB) and everything else to max. But it worked. Once the textures came back, they stayed back, even when I set everything back to normal.Honestly if I hadn't already been forced to surrender my firstborn for the memory patch in 2012, you sir would have it.
