How is it POSSIBLE that I'm not getting 60fps AT LEAST with my rig

Ok, I am literally at my wits end with this friggin' little conundrum of mine regarding my frames-per-second/general performance. I am running 2 Geforce Classified 590's, 18gb of DDR3 ram, and an i7 X990 CPU overclocked to 4.00ghz on a G1Killer Assassin mb, and I am STILL not able to pull a steady 50fps. And my set of 590's by the way is the same a QUAD-SLI 580's for Christs sake!!! I have already done the whole "update drivers and close all open programs when playing" standard-operating-procedure rig-a-ma-roll but still with no noticeable improvement. I can run Battlefield 3 MAXED OUT and never see even a single nano-second of stutter. This is honestly driving me to the verge of pulling my damned hair out folks. Will SOMEONE please give me a little assessment on this absurd issue? I have also included my load order below in the spoiler code bracket so as to not make this single post so insanely long.

perhaps your PC is too darn good? in most games, having so much RAM and so much of a beastial rig is actually a bad thing, as far as I know having more than 8gb ram actually kills frames.

Wow. Thats a lot of mods and without a merge/bash patch to boot. I dont think its a problem of your rig. What you need to do is to tweak and optimized your FalloutNV. Also learn how to use FNVEdit, FOMM/Wrye Flash to deal with mod conlficts for a more smoother gameplay.

 

There are lots of programs that could help you. NV Configurator, FNVEdit, 4gb launcher, Wrye flash, FOMM, Plugin Utility etc.

Well you could try using Clean-Deluxe NV but it probably won't get rid of any stuttering, just up your frame rate a touch while removing some unnecessary objects that are either heavily overused or don't look as good as they possibly could.

 

Or you could try using New Vegas Stutter Remover to tweak some of the problematic areas of the engine, but it can cause stability issues for some people, and in certain configurations (the default is pretty safe, and won't cause crashes unless you tweak it too much)

 

Also, expecting to get a steady 60 fps in all situations in this engine is really asking way too much from any rig. If you're getting less than 30 fps in really bad areas, you can start to worry a bit... but honestly you'll never see a game that's always maxed out on any computer whatsoever since the game will push itself as far as it can until it starts slowing down. It's designed to give you the best experience and the most stuff happening in-game, not to make everything glassy smooth.

 

One tweak that I HIGHLY recommend is to turn off VSync completely and then use New Vegas Stutter Remover to limit your FPS to a max of 30. It will stop most of the dips and changes in frame rate and lead to a much more stable experience. After a while your brain will forget that there ever was such a thing as a dip in frame rate, and you will only see a smooth and unlagged game.

 

If, on the other hand, you're one of the type of people that claim that anything less than 60 FPS "make their eyes bleed", then nothing will ever help you and you should uninstall this game now ;)

Please don't get it the wrong way - but not everything that costs more is always actually better.

 

You are running four GPU, which is a quad-SLI, and quad-SLI works very poorly with most games. Only a handful of visual flicks like Crysis or BF3 actually make use of it. Fallout doesn't. Multiple GPU cause some processing delays, which can be be lowering your FPS. 18GB of RAM don't do anything at all, games can't use more than 4GB, another couple GB for the OS.

 

All of that is running on a relatively weak CPU. It might be six-core, but most games, Fallout especially, only use 2 cores, the rest are dead weight. While at that, it's a Nehalem, which is ~10-15% slower per clock than Gesher. Have you disabled Hyper-Threading, at least? If not, there goes another 5%.

 

A more modern, non-hyperthreading CPU like i5-2500K, overclocked to 4800 MHz, would be 35% to 40% faster than what you have now. As far as Fallout goes, at least. Your bottleneck is the CPU, so it doesn't even matter what the GPU is, but I suspect that a single HD7970 would beat 2x590 for this game as well.

 

You're running have a lot of mods too, more than my setup, and I don't see Bashed Patch, 0.esp or Merged Patch.esp among them, which is a bad thing too. I think a few of your mods are incompatible or redundant, making another fps hit.

 

So, to conclude, for the purposes of playing Fallout your setup is far from the greatest, you are running a very heavily and non-optimally modded game, and even with [email protected] I'm not getting consistent 60fps either; no one does.

Actually the 590 is not quad-SLI, it's just SLI between two dual GPU cards which is not at all the same thing.

 

Dual GPU cards have 2 GPU chips in essentially the same way that multi-core CPUs do, which is much more efficient then an SLI connection between separate cards, meaning that it won't introduce things like microstutter or the compatibility/utilization problems with multiple GPUs in X-fire/SLI.
