Moraelin
If it affects speed, it will say so. I don't know of any heads that do so, though.
genolune
The handy torso says it does, but also by that logic the assaultron legs should be faster than the robo-brain treads.
gamefever
I've been really happy with Automatron the whole time. Have a few mods also installed, one of them allows me to have the Protectrons painted up just like the Police, Fire, and Medic ones in the wild. Also I don't really care about the Settlers happiness, I have Wasteland Workshop, and I intend on setting up Vault 88 to be a real death trap vault cause it makes the most sense... Afterall I need a secure, sterile, and controlled environment to properly test out my death rollers.
genolune
Alright so I used an Automatron with all the voltaic gear, two gatling lasers, robobrain treads and Mr handy torso. It was nasty. When it wants to, it moves really quick and it looks like something from the opening scene Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Thanks for this thread! I haven't tested the Assaultron legs yet, but I think I'm going to pop on and do it real quick. EDIT: I just tested the Mr. Handy thruster, Robobrain treads and Assaultron legs. The Mr. Handy thruster is definitely slower than the other two but I'm almost thinking the Assaultron is as fast as if not faster than Robobrain and I think more mobile. I'd need someone else to test it though.
Moraelin
The handy torso says it does, but also by that logic the assaultron legs should be faster than the robo-brain treads. The handy torso adds about +5% movement speed IIRC. The treads, far as I can tell, have higher top speed but higher inertia, so it's not a huge win unless you need it to sprint long distances IMHO. The Assaultron legs can also strafe, and don't make the robot as big as the treads, so it doesn't get hit by enemy fire as much. Personally I'm not a huge fan of either, since one makes the robot a bigger obstacle in narrow corridors and the other drives me loopy with the constant *klunk* *klunk* *klunk* noise. The thruster tends to be fast enough to keep up with me, is silent, and doesn't bump into me as much as the treads do. Matter of preferences, though. If you're not bothered by that, then sure, go for the treads or legs. I'd add that for robots I don't take with me, well, speed doesn't seem like a big factor to me. Especially for provisioners, the speed is a non-factor. The route works just as well no matter how fast or slow the robot moves. And for robots I leave in settlements, I tend to rely more on strategic positioning than needing them to be able to sprint 100 yards in less than 10 seconds. Basically I place one pimped-up robot at a scavenger table or such near-ish every enemy spawn point. (But not right on top of it; I like to let the turrets catch the enemies attention first.) Moraelin
I'd like to add that if you're not gonna use an insta-kill proc helm, I'd use a thruster and 3 thruster arms anyway, because of another factor: that's room for 4 voltaic pieces below the waist, as opposed to a max of 2 or 3 for other movement configurations. You can get a total of 9 voltaic pieces with the squid configuration. Thruster arms also let you add buzz-saws for when the robot gets cornered. The voltaic pieces for the thruster arms also add melee damage, while IIRC the voltaic pieces for legs or treads don't. And if you want to, you can also put Assaultron arms on the robot, which again add melee damage. Which is a global enchantment, basically, so they buff the attack even when the robot attacks with the buzz-saws not with the Assaultron arms. It can add up to quite a bit. So, basically, if anything gets too close, *bzzzt* one buzz-saw decapitation coming right up. Just don't put ranged weapons on the thruster arms, if you have gatlings on the upper arms. They don't shoot at the same time. It just makes the robot pause shooting with the deadlier gatlings, to shoot some wimpy laser on the thruster arms. Oh, and btw, another random factoid: the Mr Handy torso has the combat style in the torso, not in the head or eye. The text for the handy eye may say it has range and accuracy, but it's actually in the torso, not in the eyes. It's also on par with the Robobrain head for accuracy and range, i.e., it shares the top spot as the best for ranged combat.
