NoobusExtremus
I would like to know what kind of soul I just captured. Instead of "Soul Captured" could we see "Common Soul Captured" or "Greater Soul Captured"? Then I could more easily figure out if I should capture that wolf soul or wait for a bear to come along - assuming a bear's soul is bigger than a wolf's and I don't want to waste a common gem on a petty soul... BlackRampage
I don't want to waste a common gem on a petty soul...I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think it works that way. I think that if you want to capture a "petty" soul you'll need a petty soul gem.I don't think a petty soul can be captured in a common soul gem.I's same as that, for example, you can't capture a "greater" soul in a petty soul gem. Though it would indeed be handy if the game notified you on the nature of the soul you just captured.
Phillydee
Yes you can capture a "lesser" soul in a greater gem, petty in a lesser, lesser in common, common in greater, etc... but not in reverse. I thinnk one of the posters the other day mentioned if you want to reset the gem after you capture a soul you don't want, you can drop it and pick it up and it resets. Haven't tried that though so not sure Great idea though I wish it would say so we knew right away Edited January 3, 2012 by Phillydee
NoobusExtremus
The game will capture a soul in the smallest available gem it can. I have a few common gems with lesser (or petty) souls in them. You just can't capture a large soul in a small gem; if you kill a greater soul but only have lesser gems that are empty, you'll see the message "no gem large enough to caputre soul". Perraine
Try this:UESPWiki page on souls At least gives you a run down of soul values
BrknSoul
I don't know if this bug has been fixed, dropping a gem will clear that gem of its soul.
