dantw
I am planning on making a mod which may or may not be consistent with Elder Scrolls lore but I am curious. Does she see it like necromancy and get super pissed off about it? Isn't her whole problem with necromancy about the fact that it messes around with souls?Second lore question: Is there a way to free souls from soul gems? Could an Aedra, Daedra, mage, or someone else do so? (I know you can't do it in game but the question is from a lore standpoint.)
Lachdonin
For the first point, Meridia doesn't really care about the soul, but the natural energies of living things. Once a living organism dies, she doesn't give a rats ass what happens to it or its soul. She will start caring again if someone tries to wear the body like a meatsuit, or engage in any necromantic shenanigans with the soul. So, enchanting is probably fine, though i doubt she's particularly fond of the servants the Eternal Masters choose to keep around. As for the second point, it is mentioned in ESO that souls can be released from the Gems by drawing them out, typically to have a conversation. Because Black Soul Gems are by far the least common, and only occur through divine means, this is probably pretty rare, as you're not going to be having a conversation with a Skeever. Rethrain
Meridia is all about "positive energies". Necromancy being the negative one. I honestly think that the Daedric Princes see the Eternal Masters and soulgem/soul trapping as a necessary evil, they probably have some treaty or compact with them. After all, their (Daedric) minions do use them to power their own enchants of all kinds. Well...those of them that have opposable thumbs...and are not scamps.
