AAIIEEEE! Too Bright! My eyeballs are melting!

Hi guys! I'm enclosing a couple of pics as well as my load order in the hopes that someone can help me figure out what is causing this ungodly brightness! I use Sharpshooter's ENB, as well as RLO (ran the RL patcher and have it below RLO). I am not familiar with a lot of the terms in the ENB, such as Gamma, specularity, bloom, volumetric rays etc, nor do I know what sweetfx and/or shaders actually do or how to modify them. I really hope someone can help me make this look more natural! One thing I have noticed is there are no gradients in light level-- for example when I am leaving Whiterun I am engulfed in brightness one step and the very next step (when I go under the portcullis) it is almost completely dark... light sources have a very definite, sharp edge. Also, the problem seems to diminish considerably when a weather system is in effect-- gray skies, rain, etc. My snow, however, is BLINDINGLY white and shows no texture whatsoever. I am currently looking at some ENB tutorials but haven't solved the problem yet. Thanks in advance for your help!

Honestly, it does not look too bright from the screenshots. Maybe it's just me, or the shots didn't capture it fully. I will say that a lot of ENBs want you to turn your ingame brightness all the way down (I don't typically) because of the way their settings are modified. Have you downloaded the Particle Patch for ENB? Many ENBs have that downloaded listed on their page, but Sharpshooter's is rather old. Used to be my favorite back in the day, I'll say that.

 

Pressing SHIFT-ENTER will bring up your ingame ENB config menu that will allow you to modify those Gamma settings and others you were talking about. I usually bring up the console before doing that to freeze the game so my character doesn't do anything stupid while I'm playing with it. All that said, did you try a different ENB as well? Sharpshooter's may not play well with your mods, or your game just may be off.

 

If you like the look of Sharpshooter's ENB, you may like RealVision (Option A is for Realistic Lighting Overhaul), Project ENB, Phinix ENB,or Tamriel Reloaded. I personally use Spectra, but it's something I somehow found on Reddit (where I don't really even go, but they're useful for mod talk) when looking for compatibility ENBs for my weather mods and ELFX. It looks great.

 

So if you can't get Sharpshooter's to work (it is rather old, I used to use it a while back), you can test out of one of these. They all work well with RLO (I use ELFX, which is similar but not the same, and I've used Project, RealVision, and Spectra to great results).

 

EDIT: Forgot to suggest this patch as well. This will help with the snow in particular.
