Dahveed
SOLVED - see solution at the end. I'm having a problem where I'll often accidentally skip the first line of dialogue in a conversation because I use the directional keys on my keyboard to move my player. This is problematic when I run into another NPC who starts talking to me, and if I'm pushing forward already I'll automatically select the "up" choice without hearing what the npc says or knowing how I'll respond. I've started a separate topic here, where I ask if it's possible to "unmap" the directional keys to dialogue choices. So far I haven't found anything to unmap the keys. I know there are programs out there (can't remember the name) to remap my entire keyboard outside of Fallout 4, ie. so that I when I press one key on my keyboard, Fallout 4 will think I've pressed another. This won't work, since that same key would still control both the dialogue and my movement, leaving me at square one. I'm wondering if there's perhaps a second solution, that involves something like forcing a 2 or 3 second delay after the conversation has started? i.e., freezing the controls for a few seconds so that I can't accidentally choose an option before the conversation even starts. I REALLY, REALLY need to solve this issue, because it very much screwing with my first playthrough. I don't dare start too much of the main quest stuff because I don't want to ruin my experience because of clunky controls. PLEASE if anyone knows a way around this issue I would appreciate it. I have been playing with the directional keys on pretty much every single PC game ever for the past 12 years or something... there is no way I can unlearn it now  Thanks for any help! SOLUTION: So I used autohotkey after all (google it). I told Fallout 4 config that my movement was WASD, but told autohotkey that my up down left right keys were WASD, which don't trigger dialogue choices in-game. I then told autohotkey that numpad 8, 4, 6 and 2 were the up down left right directional arrow keys so that I could still use them to place objects in the settlement building menu (or for other unforseen uses). What a pain in the butt. Edited December 17, 2016 by Dahveed
