Hexxagone
Anyone running SE in 4K? If so what is your performance like? Thanks
JimboUK
Fine, a solid 50-55 with everything maxed, i7 6700k @4Ghz, 32GB DDR4, 980ti.
L3s7ing
95% of the time stable capped 60fps with minor drops to 50-55fps.A bunch of texture/graphics mods in use with custom enb (mainly for fps cap and some little improvements).Using one gtx 1080 (still hoping for real sli support...) jones177
Hi I am running in the high 40s low 50s with a i7 6700k & GTX 980 ti sc. I am using Nyclix's Reshade & Vivid Weathers. With these the game is 98% close to the look I had in the old Skyrim with Vivid Weathers & ENB. I have 2 X 980 ti in SLI so I am waiting for an official preset. The vanilla textures stand up well at 4k. I am only planning to replace some wood textures on structures & tree bark. If aMidianBorn Landscape textures are ported I will use those. That is more a personal preference than a necessity. In the old game textures never gave me a performance hit with 4gb+ video cards at any resolution. The biggest hits were from NPC mods so I am adding those first. My frame rates are constant everywhere thanks to the i7 6700k. My older computer has a i7 2600k, GTX 1080 & plays at 3440 X 1440. With the same mods it runs well over 60fps but drops into the 30s in some places(not Whiterun) reported on this forum. The smoothness of this game is dependent on the power of your CPU. At these resolutions both of my computers are potatoes when it comes to ENB. With SLI that may change. Later
bonewax
The smoothness of this game is dependent on the power of your CPU. I actually would have to disagree with this statement since ive seen people running i5's and i3's just fine due to the fact they have a very high end gpu. magus55x
I'm using Nyclix ENB/Reshade , 150+ plugins and am running at 2k resolution. I game on a 40 inch 1080p TV, when I put the resolution up to 4k I get a severe performance drop. sometimes dipping below 20 in some areas. I decided to keep it at 2k to keep my FPS above 35. I feel like I should be getting better performance but it varies depending on where I am in game. Whiterun, for instance, taxes my system and I drop to the low 20's around there in 4k. Mostly everywhere else I'm at 35-40 but those dips are frequent enough that I lowered my res. L3s7ing
Regarding the discussion about importance of the cpu: I think it's less important if you got an i3, i5, i7 or some amd one, but more important how good the single core performance is.For me Skyrim SE only uses 2 threads effectively and another 2 minor. Not even caring about the other 8 ^^And some i3 processors even have better single core performance than older i5 or i7. So most of the advantages of extreme high end processors are rendered useless.Seems like something between an i3 and i5 is the best for games like Skyrim. However, maybe it's just me with the problem of bad utilization, but I think if you can run at least 2 cores (maybe up to 4) effectively for Skyrim, the cpu shouldn't be so much of a limiter. Core speed seems to have much more of an impact to me Edit: Just went into the game again and have to make an adjustment to the cpu usage. One Core ist used mainly (70-100%), while 3-6 are getting charged for around 10-25%. So some more cores may be helpful, but most load will be on one core, at least in my experience. Was back in Oldrim on my notebook similar. Edited January 4, 2017 by L3s7ing
jones177
In the old Skyrim with 250+ mods & ENB 4k was impossible in my game because of script lag. Testing with the convenient horses utility I found that if I could maintain 42 fps I was ok. ENB put me in the 30s so no 4k.Fortunately Skyrim looked great at 1440 & having a 4k monitor gives you the choice. Scripts & meshes are the realm of the CPU, so for modding the more powerful the better. L3s7ing is dead on with this game. Individual core strength is the key.
