JackServant Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Can somebody please provide instructions on how to move a 3D model from 3DS Max into the Creation Kit? I need step-by-step Written directions. No videos (assume I'm deaf). Also assume I know nothing outside of 3DS Max. I've tried this on my own. Made a .nif file. Tried to change the path in what I think might be right spot inside the CK. Received "invalid directory" error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ethreon Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 You need to put any and all meshes inside Fallout4/Data/Meshes/YourFolder.
xNxmod Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Write "tutorial" on the fo4 nexus search. There are already 5/6 tutorials about 3ds

JackServant Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 I already have tumbajamba's PDF. It doesn't seem to be accurate given the way he imports meshes from FO4. At the very least, it doesn't apply to me. I also can't seem to load a nif into NifSkope.
xNxmod Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Well if you have 3ds 2013 or greater, use elrich.exe. You find it in the fo4 folder in Fallout4/tools and it convert 3ds into .nif.If you don't install the creation kit, this folder don't show up.
Ethreon Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Please try with xEdit before you pursue other avenues. CK is and has always been an incomplete tool, with various parts rewritten/ripped out of the base one due to reasons (copyrights etc). As such, it won't function completely correct. In your case the error happens due to CK thinking your meshes are not in the correct folder - Data/Meshes - that is what your invalid directory error means.
