Smizzy
I think it would be really awesome to lead a kid around the world teaching him how to defend himself in this harsh world. There could be a few beggar kids in the poor cities (Windhelm, Riften, Markarth) and you do a favor for them and they decide to become your disciple if you allow it. The favor could be something as simple as giving them food or money, it could get as complicated as buying them a weapon or fending off a bully or an abusive guard or parent. If they could gain skill depending on what skills you gain while they follow you then that'd be epic. Also they could have a generic quest line where at the end they grow up into an adult and you can tell them to join a faction. You could direct them to the thieves guild, the dark brotherhood, the companions, a city guard, or maybe go tell them to work for belethor down at the general goods store :P I understand that kids can't be told to hold weapons or armor, they also can't get hurt in vanilla skyrim. This could be left how it is, they could just follow and observe. If it is possible that would also be amazing, since you'd have yourself an Isidro in no time :D http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080610113424/berserk/images/thumb/b/b2/Ishidoro.jpg/444px-Ishidoro.jpg
Bismarck
I'm curious if Skyrim is actually able to level up NPC companions and to influence their perks/stats. Probably not. I bet the only one able to level up NPCs is that damn level scaling function.Hopefully, a modder might be able to turn Skyrim into a proper RPG so that you can hire several companions and choose their equipment, stats and perks. A child apprentice is an interesting idea.A mage/alchemist could teach his apprentice and in return, the apprentice collects herbs, creates some potions, goes shopping for you and so on.A knight could hire a squire. If children can't fight in Skyrim, maybe they will at least be able to hold some equipment, so the knight can carry around more loot. Again, shopping and polishing his master's equipment might be possible.A thief could turn a child into a little swindler. The child goes into a town, cuts some purses and when it is finished, you get some money.

Do we bail him out or ignore his connection to us? As for the shopping, i don't know how possible it would be to do it properly. It would require a lot of specifics that wouldn't make it practical (which town he goes to, which exact items he buys, from who, what time it is) . Instead he could just sell you the stuff with the line "What should I go buy?" and then run away from a few hours after selling you the stuff to pretend he goes and gets it for you. Icedgamer
hmm maybe some one could make a teenage npc model to use instead of children like 11-15 years old, the children dont seem fit to be out running around with you, while you go kill some dragons or a bear rapes you from behind.i would love to have a teenage human race to play, but that wont be possible till ck, the best i got so far is the tera elin mod. and thats not really what im looking for.,,
phantur
Maybe not like kid kid. But like a pre-teen... 11 to 15ish? I would so do this. And then, over time, they grow older. ^^ I don't know how this'll work, but maybe have a growth factor built in so that they would gradually get older the more you play. They also get better and you can command them with hotkeys like F1 could be "move over there" and "there" could be shown with a click. F2 could be "attack X", F3: fall back, etc... :D And then, once they hit 17-18, they go off on their own and you can find them in taverns and towns and stuff! Oh! And if you were training them to sneak around, they might eventually find themselves to become a Dark Brother/Sister, if trained as a mage, part of the College, etc... You can also ask them to continue assisting you if you wish. I dunno. :D I really want this. ^^
WatchTheShow
All I could think of while reading this was Babette narrating how she kills people. She would make a very interesting vampire-child follower.
Kinshou14
Haha, yeah, I thought of Babette too. It's fairly viable to have your kid(s) from Hearthfire become apprentices. I believe this because of three mods: The first adds children to bandit camps and makes them killable. The models are smaller versions of the adult models, but as far as coding goes, it means it's possible to make them killable and make them able to participate in combat. The second mod is a recent one that edits the outfit of Aeta, a Skaal child in Dragonborn DLC, to give her a parka. The third is the companion Vilja mod, which really does some major things with companions, and you should check it out. All of those together makes me believe that it's very possible to include children followers into the game.
