Enboost not working

WrathofOmega666

Recommended Posts

ok so first i'd like to mention i'm playing on a laptop that has integrated gpu AND an nvidia 850m

and i'm also using the injector version (or trying to anyway)

so basically i followed every step in every guide i could find without success

every single time i run the game PEROID (nvse, falloutnv.exe, through MO, etc) i don't get the enb dev logo or whatever in the upper left corner

i did these steps:
extracted, Enbhost.exe, Enbinjecter.exe, enbseries.dll,enbseries.ini,enbinjector.ini

and placed them in my main FONV folder

i'm also using the 4gb patch (not the loader)

as you can see i'm using TTW

and i'm running the injector.exe BEFORE i launch FONV like you're supposed to but nothing shows up in game telliing me i was successful when launched

i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but if someone could help me that would be amazing and i would oh so very grateful lol

i think i covered everything

now mind you i've tried this with just the vanilla game with no luck

UNLESS TTW is the issue and i need a special guide to run enboost with it..

if so, could someone link it? (then again i doubt it's TTW that's the issue as it's not working with the base vanilla game either)

as always, any and all help is greatly appreciated! thanks!!!

Clarification: You do NOT need the rest of ENBSeries if all you want is ENBoost. Neither "injector" nor "wrapper" versions. You do need ENBHost and the D3D9.DLL file, and when installed correctly it will display the logo you are looking for. See this entry in the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide, which has the link to the STEP guide to installing ENBoost. With the 4GB patch, just follow the basic install instructions. (With the loader, you would need to put the D3D9.DLL file in the "exes" folder instead.)

When you have both an embedded GPU and an added video card, you probably want to use the added card and you need to go into the BIOS and disable the embedded GPU. When you look at the "Control Panel" | "Hardware and Sound" | "Devices and Printers" | "Device Manager", it should only indicate one is active under "Display Adapters". While it is possible to have more than one adapter active, the system assigns a priority as "primary display" to the order in which it detects them. If you don't have a monitor attached to both, it's best to disable the unused one.

just tried that. the dll just makes my game freeze upon start

every single time

i need enboost to get rid of the awful 3-5 second freezes i get evedry 10-15 seconds

i currently have the stutter remover but it's not helping that

and all i can find are the wrapper and injector versions

and if i use the wrapper, i can't record game footage or even talk on steam cause of the way the dll is coded

so far neither method works

i put the dll in my FONV folder along with enblocal.ini and enbhost.exe

i run the game. 5 seconds later i need to task manager to close it

it just freezes. i'm at a loss

EDIT: i fogot to mention. i can NOT disable my intel hd gfx. i checked the bios and the option wasn't there...

HOWEVER i CAN change the default to the nvidia. i'm hooked up to a single monitor anyway

but ugh! this stuttering! it makes the game unplayable! it's so bad!

and new vegas stutter remover isn't working or is configed wrong or idk what.

so i'm open to suggestions here. thanks

EDIT2: removed the stutter remover and it still takes 45 seconds to qiucksave!

Edit3: just tried to load a random enb with just the vanilla game...

didn't work. gonna keep trying, thought i've exhusted every option it seems....

nvsr doesn't work

enboost doesn't work

enb doesn't work

my game stutters so bad that it's unplayable

i've tried all the fixes i could find to no avail

i don't know what else to do

Have you tried "defragmenting" your disk drive?

Stuttering is usually caused by a bottleneck, usually between the slow disk drive and the faster video card. Giving the video card more "buffer space" is the usual solution, so it can "read ahead" from the disk and have data available in memory to render. Stuttering means the video is having to wait on retrieving data from the disk instead of from memory. There is an interaction between various graphic settings in the INI file and NVSR. These are indirectly covered in the "Solutions to Performance Problems" section of the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

From what I understand, you need the D3D9.dll provided by ENB for Boost to work. So, you need to bring that problem to that forum.

The rest of ENB is not going to help with your stutter. It imparts an FPS hit after the image has been rendered, so don't attempt to use it or any presets until you have resolved the ENBoost issue.

As to your problems with NVSR, what exactly have you tried?

the only changes i can remember making was turning off bHookLightCriticalSections (the youtube guy Gopher suggested in a video to do that)

and then i messed around with the fps settings trying various values (it's set to off at the moment but i'll try it with it on see if that does anything)

then i messed around with the heap setting put it at 512 (found out later that's too high thus lowered in to 400)

i tried enabling the experimental stuff

although i have NOT tried limiting the cores like you have to do for fo3 because i thought that was fixed in FoNV

would that help?

i'm willing to try anything at this point lol

as for the enboost i'll post my issue with it there. thanks for that link as i didn't know about it.

EDIT: wow what the actual blue hell...Enboost works FINE on my Desktop with windows 10 on it

my guess is this...my win 7 machine isn't updated fully with all the correct drivers OR have corrupted driver installs. which would make sense since the damn thing will not update through windows D:

it was a fresh install of win7 so i had to find all my drivers and d/l them on my desktop and transfer them over to the laptop via disc since the usb ports would not work at first. so it's clear i've missed a few or something

so if i had to guess... the missing updates that weren't downloading have something to do with all this *groan* OK! i just gotta find all my drivers and install them lol

i'll keep you posted!

Try making these initial changes to your "Data\NVSE\plugins\sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.INI" file:

bManageFPS = 1
bHookLightCriticalSections = 1
bReplaceHeap = 0
bReduceSleep = 0
bInject_iFPSClamp = 1
fMinimumFPS = 20
bEnableProfiling = 1
iHeapSize = 448
bEnableMessages = 1

These assume you have enabled the NVSE "Sheson memory patch" and the "Purge Cell" options found here in the "Mod Conflict" guide.

Fire up the game again until you encounter your problem, and then exit and check the "sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.log" in the game root folder for any errors.

My initial take is this a report of the "profiling" of Critical Sections NVSR is measuring. I have no idea what those "Critical Sections" are, but it is logging the time various sections as "threads" take to return a result (in milliseconds).

There is a line "Critical Sections summary(PD3): time 30 tt: 0.0s tc:1k" which is then followed by various section reports and then lines reporting "FPS time:47.7s-32.1s,FPS: 0.9, mean:1117.6/537.5ms, min-max: 4.0-8658ms, now:920ms". In this line the "FPS: 0.9", which is extremely low. It shows a minimum of "4.0" and a maximum of "8658" milliseconds. The "now:920ms" is some sort of total as it keeps increasing as more reports are accumulated.

Other summary FPS lines show different FPS results, but they are all relatively low. There is also another "Critical Sections summary(PD3): time 382 tt: 0.2s tc:7k" line near the bottom with much better FPS results in the 40-60ms range. But most likely that was while you were exiting the game.

All I can get from this is that you do indeed have some serious bottlenecks. But I would have to know what the CS entries are referring to in order to offer specific suggestions and I don't know that. The best I can suggest is to save this log for later comparison. Then enable the "Heap replacement", select and test each of the NVSR heap algorithms while trying to duplicate the same actions in the game, and see how their FPS results compare. IIRC, that's what I did in determining my settings, before I opted to try without using NVSR's heap.

Your best bet in interpreting these results in order to determine what needs to be adjusted is to contact the author of NVSR and provide him with the log.

Bear in mind that performance is a multi-faceted problem. It is best tackled by getting the best performance you can out of each tool available to you, one tool at a time. The overall combination will then hopefully yield the best possible result. The good news is that once you have accomplished that, you should be stable in that performance until something changes with the hardware.

OK! so after literally stumbling across the issue i found it!!!!!

and it's something i never would have guessed!

it wasn't my os or my load order! it was the CRYSIS SUIT MOD!!!!!!!

the suit's HUD causes a MASSIVE fps drop. no clue why but while it's a fun mod it's not a must have

so to anyone that has this issue and uses the Crysis suit mod. i'd save yourself the stress and just not use it

unless you can find a workaround of course
