Emperor and Guards never come?

Today was my first day adding mods, so I got a little crazy. I was spammed with dialog from the mods after I made my Mystic Elf character and walked up to Vaden (or whatever his name is).. Waited about 5 minutes with him not talking of course, and nothing happened.

I tried again with a Dark Elf and it worked fine. Is there a reason why the custom races (mystic elf, tabaxi and ainmhi) aren't getting past the first spot? Any known conflicts with that?

 

Also, if anyone knows this.. Whenever I try to use block *L-Shift* it only fades out the health bar, compass, etc and doesn't block. Is this from a certain mod?

 

Help is MUCH appreciated. :confused:

 

EDIT: So after typing this post I looked further into the readme's of some mods and found the Custom Race Fix, how stupid am I? I had it open, too. However the block thing still is being an annoyance.

Well, there're more problems related to custom races(like Boethiah Daedric quest, or one of SI main quest). You should get patches for each problems, or install Unofficial Oblivion Patch.

Unofficial Oblivion patch also fixes the problem with custom races not being able to work properly. It also fixes many more of these type problems. The custom race mod is a year old and is probably no longer being supported, but the 'Unofficial Oblivion Patch' has seen regular updates.

I had the same problem as you. When I try to load a save game that was created for me and has a custom race character, the main quest does not start and the emperor and guards do not show up. I also tried the custom race fix and still the problem persists. But somewhere I read a post that suggested using a console command, and it worked. It is:

 

startquest charactergen 9

 

My oblivion game has accumulated quite a no. of bugs probably because I have installed and uninstalled quite a no. of mods. I have v1.2, KOTN and SI installed. My game would crash randomly during play, during a couple of miscellaneous quests and everytime when I quit the game.

 

Lately I have tried using the unofficial patch but the game crashes everytime I try to load a saved game hence I had to disable the unofficial patch. At the moment I am still playing Oblivion (It is my second playthrough but now using a custom character as I have already completed Main Quest, Mages and Fighters Guild, Daedric Quest, KOTN and SI.)

 

In my opinion Oblivion is probably the buggiest game ever, but it aspires to be something great and the gaming community that supports it with mods and custom patches has been really awesome so I say I would still not miss this game for anything.
