Deleted32363610User
I have created a custom world space and I want to add a custom world map. To add a world map, I navigated to 'World -> World spaces -> My New World'. In my world space, I found a section called Map Image. I added my world map to the file location 'Interface\Pip-Boy\MyWorldMap.dds' (This is where Fallout 4's Commonwealth's world map is located). Then I selected 'Map Image', which opened a file menu where I found and selected my world map. I saved and launched Fallout 4, and when I visited my new world space, I opened my pip-boy and navigated to the 'Map' tab. The Commonwealth map was being displayed, not my world map. What am I doing wrong? How can I display a custom world map in my custom world space?
BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
Is your worldpsace using anything as it's Parent? If so, your worldspace will use the parent's map regardless of yours having it's own or not.If the parent worldspace doesn't have a map, the Commonwealth map will be used. Of course, after that there is the question of whether your map was done perfectly perfect.I remember the process is kinda a PITA sometimes (on the other hand, it hasn't changed much over the years). Deleted32363610User
No, it doesn't have a parent world space. And I did select a map for it to use. What do you mean, was my "map done perfectly perfect". What are the requirements for a map to work?
BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
When you created your map, how did you go about it?What was your process? Maybe a screenie of it and the Worldspace settings might help.

Nimboss
Hi! What tutorials or general forum threads have you followed to get this far to start with, when start asking about creating new worldmaps? What Blah asks you about is some more details how you went along to get to this point. I have made a world map for a FONV mod, and as Blah says and I agree it was not easy, because of scale issues (I recall an explanation for why it even existed scale options in GECK/CK for world map it was that Bethesda had problems to get this perfect matching themselves). If your worldmap is of correct .DDS type and put in the right folder, and your definition like you say point to it correctly, then that map even if it was a picture of Mickey Mouse should show up as your map in PipBoy. If it does not, there is something else that went wrong. It's fun to have some new one dive into creating new world spaces but know that over the years very few still do it and extremely few mastered it. Welcome! Deleted32363610User
What is the "correct" .DDS type and correct folder? Here's what I did. I took my greyscale heightmap and converted it to .DDS and put it into the 'Data\textures\Interface\Pip-Boy' folder. It is the same exact size image as my heightmap, just .DDS format. Nimboss
To be exactly bc1_unorm but I think general DXT1 will do since it kind of an alias, make it very dark since Pip-Boy light it up a lot. I tested quickly with my FO4 new world space with a map over Morrowind in the bc1_unorm format just for fun and tested in game with no issue at all. I noted they name maps with ending _d.DDS not sure it matters. For your new worldspace the setting "Parent Worldspace" shall be set to NONE and nothing else otherwise as already told the WorldMap_d.DDS will be shown instead.
