hey guys,

so for a long time i wanted to create a mod, but when i started i told myself- well its just a mod...

but just an hour ago, i finished the masterpiece called HELGEN REBORN.

That showed me the true potential of a mod!.

so i have an idea, before you say i know i cant create something like helgen reborn and i am not aiming to.

BUT i want to create a mod and i need some tips.

so firstly, is creation kit a good modding software or there are better alternatives?

secondly, i want an idea so i have this basic pattern - you talk to a new NPC, after that you do a quest. when you are finished you go to another NPC and you complete a quest fr him. after that he can become your folllower.

so thats it! if you can respond i will appreciate that and thanks for reading

First of all, people tend to not even open a post with a subject line like yours. I mean it's not even specific enough to call it vague. "I have some basic questions about skyrim modding" would have been much better. Even later on something like "Having a problem with a lever opening a gate" will get you much more response than say "I need help please help me!!"

To answer your questions...

before you say i know i cant create something like helgen reborn and i am not aiming to.

Dude, nobody would tell you that. I mean those guys made the mod learning from the same tools and websites you'll use. So it's quite possible.

There are no alternatives. Creation Kit is it. It's what the developers used to build the meat and potatoes of the game.

secondly, i want an idea so i have this basic pattern

That's pretty standard stuff, and creationkit.com can give you the basics of how to do it.

Well, I'm going to agree with you on the I can't create a mod like Helgen Reborn ... Not without a few years in the kit and some serious skills ...

Though monsto is correct, that kind of a jump when first starting to mod will cause you brain damage ... (lol).

As for what you are asking, that is very doable by simply looking at in game quests like it (still not an easy starting to modding).

Also, the Creation Kit is so powerful it's crazy. It is in fact the alternative to mass coding. Many people cut down the kit not understanding

what a wonderful tool it really is. As far as Skyrim goes the Creation Kit is the real masterpiece above anything else.

Hi,

I'm relatively new to modding...so green in fact that I'm doing my second attempt at my first dungeon.

I can only agree with what has been said before. Creation Kit is a marvellous thing, but because it is so powerful, it takes a lot of learning. Patience is the key.

I'd advise you to start humble and use it to design a small dungeon, or a player home. That way, you'll familiarise yourself with the basics of the software, so that you're ready to learn more advanced stuff later.

CK is good, full stop. It's a great tool to use. Install it and have fun.
