My Models

I really have to start working on Skyrim, enough delaying, it's been almost 2 months since the game was released and I barely started. So, I decided to start by looking over the Skyrim Mod Request forum and it seems everyone wants armors, outfits, headwear or anime stuff, which I don't like making. Since I couldn't find inspiration there I decided to use my imagination (that could lead to earth's implosion but I'll take my chance). Now I've got a bunch of meshes and some (more or less) finished stuff, rendered in blender. And here they are:

Weapons from the Roman Empire, meshes only. They need to be unwrapped and textured. I made them because I like Roman equipment (and I watched a movie with gladiators and stuff).

Gladius, one-handed infantry sword.

Pugio, dagger used by legionaires as a sidearm weapon.

Spatha, two-handed infantry sword. In reality it was just a longer version of Gladius but I didn't like it that way.

Pilos, javelin made to penetrate opponent's shields and armor, throwing spear.

Hasta, heavy thrusting spear, made to repell infantry charges and enemy horsmen.

Parma, light infantry shield, effective at blocking arrows, used by Velites (legionaires armed with javelins, light infantry).

Scutum, Rectangular, semi-cylindrical body shield, effecting at blocking hand-to-hand attacks and arrows.

Shurikens (throwing stars). I made these some time ago for Fallout 3 but I stopped working on them. A few days ago I saw someone requesting these so I changed my mind and decided to finish them. They are all unwrapped, they only need textures.

And now some stuff I finished.

A sword from "The Mummy" movie, I just like it, and it's poorly textured.

Now I honestly don't know how to call this one. It started as a Khopesh but it turned out to be something else . It also has a poorly made texture.

Banhammer, I think it needs no further explanation .

And this is one of the Shurikens, the only one I finished before I stopped working on them.

I would've posted all these as pics but Nexus hates me and allows only 10 pics per post.

I've got more models but I can't seem to find them at the moment, they are mostly spears and halberds, some swords, daggers and a couple of shields, all finished.

The only problem I have with these models is that some of them, like shurikens and spears, would look like crap in Skyrim because they don't have an animation good enough to be used (imagine a 2 meters long spear with warhammer or battleaxe swinging animations ). As I recall adding new animations without replacing the vanilla ones is impossible in FO3 and NV, I just hope it can be done in Skyrim, if not I have a bunch of half-useless models :(.

All these things will be released as modders resources when finished, I stopped making mods a while ago and I only release resources, though I might change my mind.

And now it's texturing time (I hate that :yucky:).

Oh, and all comments, suggestions, questions, criticism, headaches, etc. are welcome .

@billyro Yes, I just need to finish them first, and I think I'm going to wait for the Creation Kit to implement them, I don't like these improvised modding tools. And I really hope CK will allow us to add new animations (though I need to learn how to animate before that).

By the way, does anyone know if the blender nif plugin for Skyrim is worked on (preferably for 2.49)? I'm not really comfortable using vanilla assets in my models.

The ban hammer is pretty intense. I do think it would be quite comical if there was a animation made of a moderator smashing someones nexus avatar with the hammer when the get banned  . The sword with no name has a really cool model also. The handle needs a bit of work (from what I can see in the picture), but I think the blade texture looks well made.

@BeyondTom The sword with no name needs a better handle, I agree. The one in the pic is a wooden handle, though I think I'm going to use leather for it, I think it would look better. The only thing that bothers me is that I still don't know how to make stiches in the leather, like these:

Ah, well, I guess I'll have to learn.

I suppose you could just make simple flat rectangular prisms with one that bends over the other with the help of a few small sub divisions around the middle. Pinch them at the end and 'raise' the area up after with a normal map. That probably should do the trick (of course its just a suggestion). That leather handle texture should turn out very nice on the sword  . I am sure if you released it on tesnexus you would make hot files at the top of the site.

I manged to get the stiches on the handle, here's a pic of it up close:

Though I still think the texture is crap I'm gonna have to satisfy with that because my texturing skills suck .

Here's a pic of the whole sword:

I still think it's crap, I'm never satisfied with the stuff I make.

Oh, and I've managed to get this thing in-game, although it still needs a specular map it looks ok and the blood on the blade is showing perfectly. And it still needs a scabbard.

It looks great! Don't be so hard on yourself  . What kind of scabbard are you going to make for such an ornate blade? It may have to be a leather strap due to the hooked look to the weapon (which would match the handle well). By the way, what game are you trying it out in?
