Follow / Track not just mods, but MODDERS

After all, this is a community based around people who make large contributions to the scene in general... why not make it easier to follow those people who stand out in the crowd? I can name at least 5 people that I check their profile's individually almost DAILY to see if they've released any new mods.

This would be fairly simple to implement... as the tracking system is already in place. All you'd need to do is add a few columns to the database and a bit of php work and it'd be done in 45 minutes to an hour. I'd even be willing to donate my time to do this (for free) just so everyone can enjoy it.

I envision it as any other "follow / subscribe / track" system anywhere else online... users gain popularity based on how many subscribers, and you can even have a "Top Modders" category so people can not only find the most popular mods but the *gasp* most popular modders!

As-Is, it's quite hard to find those random gemstone mods with like 30-50 endorsements that are buried in categories with 1,000's of other mods... because people simply don't want to dig through the dirt to find the gem. Having a top modder category would help people find those random mods too, because chances are that they were made by some of the people that are very dedicated to the community and release WAY more mods then most people ever realise.

I think a "Track this modder" and "Top Modder" feature would go a LONG way in improving the user friendliness and overall mod community integration. I, for one, would feel much more at home if I had access to these features. I check the Nexus like 15-20 times PER DAY... and if those features were here, It'd literally triple my overall time spent on the website.

Just my 2 septims!

We used to have modder tracking. File tracking is a strain on resources which is why it is for premium accounts only. Not sure why modder tracking was removed...might have been under utilized or too intensive for the servers to handle.

I'd prefer something along an XML thread for each modder which only gets updated if new entries are created...then subscribe to the XML news feed.

File tracking is available to everyone. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/rolleyes.gif Right now, I'm tracking 4 files on the Skyrim Nexus.
