danriu
So yeah, just as it sounds, making the game map much, much bigger = more fun, oh wait this is not a new idea right?, and it is also not possible cuz engine limitations, WELL, it is actually possible without even having to move anything, or to make heavy work on compatibility with other mods... HOW? This sounds amazing right?, but it is actually a work around, that might really work well, and its used on other games... like mostly all of them, yeah I know you know already, Invisible walls on strategic points and loading screens in between some parts of the map, some would think like MEH!, My Immurshion!!!, but honestly !,for me being able to take a 2 minutes walk from Riverwood to Witherun kills my immersion even faster, also the map is so small that making use of carriage system is almost not needed at all. Having all those amazing survival mods, camping mods, and feeling like,hmm... I will pretend and role-play that its a reason for me to make a camp here and survive, even tho there's only a few steps in between me and the next city, I'm fooling myself the hardest to not even look into that direction....lol , and so I always wanted to have large forests and enormous natural lands in between cities, but you know adding more trees on an already filled up map means good bye frame rate. crashes and problems. So this is a basic Idea I have about how to enlarge the map of skyrim : http://i.imgur.com/FalafXA.jpg So this can give a basic Idea isolating important map areas and adding new lands in between them, How so?: - Covering isolated areas with invisible walls, mountains and trees, making not possible to see trough or pass. Well then how NPCs are supposed to travel between this areas??? - There are Two ways I have in mind, first one is managing for npcs to recognize this portal go to the are to get to their destination, wich is not the best one, The second one and the best I think is via making it look like there is no way to pass trough, but taking advantage of the NPCs mini teleportation ability to surpass obstacles and just put an object, lets say a tree just in front on the navmeshed path, and the NPC will pass via teleporting itself, obviously there will be an ascetically organized wall of objects or even some sort of tunel to make it look "Immersive", Player character will have to use a loading creen to pass and will have to pass trough another map to cross to the other side, this will give the notion of a bigger map. I would love to have big new maps in between this points, maps just covered with nature and tress, animals and bandits and other treats,so crossing this land actually will require time and effort an will make survival mods really cool to use along. Also increasing a lot the cost of carriage and getting much more room for a canvas that other modders can fill up with more things without affecting the base game. I will attempt into making something by myself, but honestly I'm fairly a newbie when it comes to navmeshing and creation kit in general, so this is the main reason I post this here, So far this is my idea What do you think?? Hiccaries
I know this is a dead topic but I will reply anyway. A mod of this scale would be amazing and honestly I was hoping that Skyrim Special Edition would be just that but it wasn't. If I had any power to do so I would attempt to do something similar to this. It would be cool to see Whiterun as a realistically sized city surrounded by a Tundra that goes on for miles and miles and miles. If I could make a mod like this. I would remake Skyrim 9x the size as it's original version which is not truly impossible per-say, it depends on how you design the map. Stretching out all of the locations and not adding any new ones would help greatly, it would also make the game feel realistically spaced out. husky92
This would be AMAZING! I've been waiting for a mod like this for years ahah
Estevan14
Can anyone tell me how can I dis-encrypt the hardcoded skyrim and remake the world map, four times bigger, adding the cities from arena and a lot of new quest and fix the rain clipping issue? KnightGabriel27
I know this is an old post, but I found this because I was searching for the same thing and wanted to check up on the progress of this, because I'm very interested in a mod like that. Also, according to what I can gather online, Skyrim is roughly around the size of New Zealand in terms of area(Someone more specifically said that Skyrim is 105,000 square miles). So skyrim is roughly 7,000 times smaller in game than it is in lore. I obviously know that making skyrim that much bigger in game is actually impossible due to engine limitations and sheer size, but it might be possible to make just the map itself in a different engine, to get an idea of what skyrim would look like irl. Audenkeros
7000 times bigger in lore? If someone even made the map 7 times larger it would feel vast. It'd also allow for more farms and villages to populate the world and give a little breathing room to the holds and significant locations. Honestly just doubling the size of the map would be sufficient for some immersive trekking, though 4-7 would be enrapturing.
