Is there a way to stop settlers from looting containers in settlements?

Like the title says, Is there a way to stop settlers from looting containers in settlements?

I last played Fallout 4 a year ago but now I'm back into it, though I still have the same issue as before where settlers would go into my power suits and loot all the weapons and ammo from containers at Sanctuary, sadly I have not found anything that could prevent this.

Ive got some experience with Skyrim modding so if there is not a mod for this released yet, maybe I could make a few edits myself to prevent this issue?

I'm thinking about editing the settlers or the containers, but where do I begin and does anyone have some pointers in which direction I should be looking?

Containers do have this "No AI acquire" option, and I could also try to set the Ownership to "Player" to see what that accomplishes, though that would only work for pre-placed containers and anything build through the Settlement Workshop will not work this way.

Another option I'm thinking about is to simply create my own area in Sanctuary by deleting the navmeshes so that npcs simply cannot walk there, though I'd like to prevent this option if possible for various reasons.

Any advice or possible fix for stopping settlers from looting my containers would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: found the fix that suits for me, if I place a container manually through the Creation Kit and have the "No AI acquire" option enabled on it, then the settlers will never take anything out of that container.

I play on Survival, everything from a shell to a feather has weight.

Thank you for the comment Mistame, but I want to build a settlement and store whatever I want without having to worry about my settlers stealing.

And it doesn't matter if its the workshop or a container, settlers will steal stuff if they want to and I need a way to prevent this, they need to stay away from my loot at all cost.

(I also tried building an inaccessible platform, but even there settlers can reach it because they sometimes 'teleport' up to it.)

I built a building without a door and stored my Power Armour and weapons in there, When I wanted to get in I went into workshop mode, selected a section of wall and moved it so that I could get in, then replaced it.

There is a mod that automatically removes the power cores from power armor when you exit and returns the core to your inventory. That way you don't have to remember it. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14773

I've also tried building inaccessible locations for the NPCs and as stated above they just teleported themselves to it. Nor did it stop them from taking weapons from my containers. Basically you just have to equip your settlers with high end weapons because the thieving little buggers will absolutely take whatever you have that matches their ammo and is better than their default. Or you could always store your weaponry in a location without NPCs such as Home Plate or a mod player home.

Okay so here are my findings so far and I'm very happy with them:

-Manually place a container through the Creation Kit and enable the "No AI acquire" option, this will completely eliminate settlers from taking items out of that container.

I only use my workbenches to store scrap and mods, all my weapons/ammo/fusion cores are stored in other containers, so now I moved all of my weapons/ammo/cores to another container that I placed with the CK with that option enabled and the settlers will not steal any of my items from it, nor will they steal any cores and hop into my armor suits.

So now I will stop placing containers in-game through the workshop and simply place them manually through the creation kit instead, this way I can build a nice settlement and have my home in that settlement as well without settlers being massive thieving thugs, hurray!

(tested it several times by spawning a deathclaw and looking how the settlers would react with the container that had all items in it, so I'm pretty certain about these findings.)

You need to have a tiny bit of experience with the CK in order to do this, but for anyone else who wants to "fix" this issue with their settlers, now you know how to do it.

You don't need to create an entire settlement mod, all you have to do is place the containers or edit already existing containers through the Creation Kit (though you cannot use containers in-game that were build through the workshop since those are open for settlers to steal from).

Building your own settlement in-game through the workshop is an integral part of the game imo and you shouldn't take that away, but for the containers its worth to consider going in the CK if you don't want thieving settlers, which is what I plan to do from now on.

It aint perfect, but its good enough for me.

No you misunderstood. I'd been thinking of doing some settlement cleanup to the way I like them for building, modifying features in settlements I don't like that can only be done with CK, etc. I figured if I'm going to hit up settlements in the CK to add containers, I might as well use it as an excuse to push me to do the other work I want to do as well. :D
