wolfen
I know this ressurects a topic from over a month ago, but I figured it makes sense to keep all the info in one place. I just built the Hlaalu stronghold - -sort of. Started construction, got the "Cure Kwamma Queen" quest. Except -- ACK -- early in the game I killed her !! I had just discovered soul gems (my first time playing) and was trying to see what the biggest thing I could trap was. Of course I had to pick the one damn queen in the whole game that matters.. Is there anyway around this? I used the console to recreate the queen and then cured her. After that I got the "recruit miners" quest, did that, and the house is now complete with a couple people hanging out inside. Then I waited about 15 days and received no more quests. If I talk to the Balmora stronghold builder, he continues to tell me that I've ruined all chances of advancement because the queen is dead. Are there more quests that I am missing out on or am I done? I don't have the extra buildings that other people mentioned, but I'm also a House Brother right now not House Father or Councilmember yet. Any help greatly appreciated! Malchik
Moved. This really wasn't the same as the earlier thread but full marks wolfen for using the search button!
Switch
Hmm, well killing the Kwama Queen most likely triggered a global variable. I don't know if there's a console command to alter variables or not, but that's what you'd need... Dammit, UESP is down. If it gets back up though check this page for the command you need. Would probably be something like "SetGlobal". Then it would just be a case of looking at the script attached to the Kwama Queen in the CS and finding what variable it set, and setting it to "0" using the console command. Then hopefully you can get your promotion and the rest of the quests. If not, start a new game and try to remember not to kill her this time :P
wolfen
Hey, thanks switch! I'm not sure that it will work though .. I tried messing around with the editor a little bit to see if i could figure it out that way. (disclaimer- -i am a total noob with the editor). I couldn't find anything intelligible until I looked up the dialogue options and there it was, it looks like there's not a variable per se (I could be wrong about this) but that it actually goes ahead and checks -- "IF [DEAD] : [KWAMA QUEEN_SHARUD] THEN [hahaha no stronghold for you! fool!]" type deal. Which is irritating. I went back to an old saved game before the quest with the queen (but after i killed her, which was practically the very start) and re-created the queen, then advanced to where I got the HAHA YOU LOSE message. I still got it. In a fit of fury I then summoned a dozen kwamma queen_shuradan's directly in front of him but for some reason he still didn't get the point. So.. I introduced him to another type of point all together. (and then repented and reloaded, of course) <very frustrated> I think I'm just going to go ahead and see if I get more strong-hold quests as I advance. . I can't possibly imagine going through the game a second time, MW is much much too addictive. If I don't stop after beating it once my life is in trouble :)
Malchik
As you say MW is addictive. Start a new game and try a different Great House. There may be a knock-on effect in not having a stronghold in that you can't progress in Hlaalu. Also the individuals you have to eliminate in 'unauthorised' Telvanni and Redoran strongholds (quests from Uncle Crassius) may not be present if only the first level of the stronghold is completed. Malchik
Download the mod that lets you play as all three houses, Loomy. Maybe you can get another stronghold. Did you get to the highest rank by using the glitch? Shame on you!

Marxist ßastard
If you still have the save, try downloading Morrowind Enchanted Editor, opening the save in this application, and looking through the "Creatures Altered / Killed by Player" records. You should find an entry containing the string "kwama queen_shurdan --" delete it. If that doesn't work, I can fetch the startscript lines and journal entries necessary to make a completed stronghold appear out of thin air. Guest
Uhm, hey everybody, this is actually my first post at this site. Hopefully this thread isnt dead yet but I think I may have a problem with this Hlaalu Stronghold business. It may not be a big deal, but i got up to the point where the Driller guy in Balmora says to hire miners and heal the queen. Well, I just went to Gnisis (was that it?) and hired the retired miner there and went back and talked to driller, not really thinking much of it, and it seemed as though the quest went on, since my journal updated. BUT, I never healed the queen. Right after that i took a heal blight on other scroll and went there, the place was a smokey red that i assumed was from the blight. When i found her, it didnt say she was diseased at all. Well, I think I'm done with it, since I hired out that merc and went and killed those bandits, Driller said he'd give the signal to finalize my place. The only thing is my mine is still hazey and that miner i hired hasnt showed up (do they even?). I just hope my mine isn't funked.(Oh, this is pretty newby, but I've never gotten this far before, but does the mine actually bring in gold for you? or is it more of just a status/rp thing that you need for the best possible house?) Well, anyway, if I even have done anything wrong, someone please let me know and if not, well, guess i typed all this out for nothing
