I think it would be possible to include both. For instance, have it start as an underground community, which eventurally spreads out to form a real town, all with the underground temple to Talos hidden beneath the foundations.

Ya I kinda like that idea, a good way to combine both start hidden and when you gain the power to be more open you open the town up and with the temple in the underground it will be easier to protect in an attack.

Although I fully support this, I must admit it sounds painstakingly similar to the Stormcloak's campaign. The only difference is that the player is the leader instead of Ulfric. So unless I'm missing something you pretty much summoned up a mod that combines the Stormcloaks with the Skyrim Evolution mod that allows player-made cities. You can find that in Windhelm, Talos worship is done often and I believe that even Ulfric openly defied the Empire just so that way his people can worship Talos in as many ways as they can. Of course the Talos conundrum was only the last thread in a host of problems, but alas it comes across as the largest formality.

Now what I think would be awesome is if you had a mod in mind that expanded Talos worship back to all the other cities under the rebellion's rule. Have great celebrations in the cities for the return of Talos worship and perhaps you could add in Thalmor attacks in retaliation.

Ya I agree still flaws in my idea, main reason i posted here now is everyone has great ideas, and I am open to new storylines if anyone has any ideas for other than Talos, I am completely open to it. As for Skyrim Evolution interesting idea they got first time I heard of it, which is a cool idea granted what they plan is a very large undertaking. I am not planning to be as diverse in the town making system imagine when you buy your furniture for your house it kinda just appears very close to what mine will be like for the town with tweaks.

As I stated before I am not 100% on the Talos idea I been reading lore, and other cults, and factions that have been around and working on developing a full fledge idea. I will say if I tackle the worship idea I will make sure while its similiar in idea to the Storm Cloaks it will be very different questline from them.

My original idea was a Stendarr faction but as another mod working on it and my own belief Bethseda may release a DLC concerning them I decided to take a new route and develop a whole new faction, town and change the world of Skyrim.

General Idea

As many of you know Talos is a man Tiber Septim who ascended to god hood. In the Great War the Elves had forced the worship of Talos to end oppressing followers and prosecution any who worship him (was part of the treaty after great war). As Talos is one of the Nine Divines and as any religion you try to suppress their religion people fight back. My goal is to bring talos back to Skyrim as a main worship free of prosecution.

I wish to take factions in a new direction. The player does not simply join this faction and rise up the ranks. You will be the founder of this town and be one of the main soldiers in the fight to bring back Talos as one of the nine divines free of prosecution in Skyrim. Everything from finding artifacts, to hiring a architect to help you rebuild the town (Will act as a house normally does your purchase the building to be built). With enough money and effort you will build a whole town as you try to raise Talos back to worship.

How quest will work?

Quest while not construction kit yet I have a general idea how I would like to do the quest. There will be 3 main Quest lines in the town. Bringing Back Talos Worship, Rebuilding the Town, and Shop Quest.

Bringing Back Talos - This will be a quest line in which you fight for the return of Talos worship. This will bring problems with the Imperials (Imperials will be helpers in covert now Thanks Lachdonin on information) and the Thalmor. You will need to battle them to free Skyrim of thier oppression pushing them out of Skyrim for good. Possible Good / Dark Route to bringing it back.

Rebuilding the Town - The town will start as a empty lot and you must hire a contractor to help you build the return of this lost town in Skyrim. Purchasing Buildings, Finding Store Owners, Gaurds, and more.

Shop Quest - These quest will be for the shop keepers as no one can start with nothing and expect to make sales, you help these shop keepers bring their store to life.

Other Quest - Companions (You actually need to work to get these companions to fall for you), Threats on your Town, (Open to Ideas Suggest Please!! Thanks!)

What new Items will there be?

Several New Items will be brought into this Town/Faction.

+ Armor of Talos (Plan for different varients for Mages/Melee and Archers)

+ New Buildings (Plan to model more unique buildings so your town is like no other)

+ Unique Weapons and Shields Etc..

+ and more. (once again open to suggestions)

What Buildings can you buy for your town?

+ Wall Around the Town

+ Talos Shrine

+ Temple of Talos

+ Talos GuildHall

+ Library

+ Inn

+ Gaurd House (complete with jail)

+ Archers Building

+ Black Smith

+ General Goods Store

+ Apothecary

+ House District (Adds homes to the town)

+ Your own Special home that will over look the town.

What will be the perks of paying to have this town raised?

With each building you will gain a tax, that helps you fund the town, the more you add the more you make. Also based on how you bring back his worship how people outside your town will view you. Several people who will happily follow you into battle. Also much more, (traders for use, special options, and new radiant quest fit for a Jarl.)

Will there be restrictions to who can start this Town?

No this will be for any player who wishes to see Talos worshipped in the Skyrim once more.

I will be doing as much as I can I have experience in Scripting my main talent is 3D Art (Props, Buildings Etc)

If anyone is interested in Helping just post let me know. I am open to any ideas and suggestions and hope to bring something unique to Skyrim.

The whole raising the town thing reminds me of Assassins creed 2 and rebuilding your town in that game

hmm how about trying to get the guilds get cuarters in the town and if you are dark brotherhood you could use the guy that reebuilds one of the sanctuaries to build a new one too. and dont forget the stendar faction they must also have place to live there. maybe have it like you start out whit no wals and then it goes to three wals and then stone.

Interesting idea, still working on the design to the town so its still possible. I am a big fan of the dark brotherhood and at one time I thought about expanding that idea but the problem I run into with the dark brotherhood without spoiling is how it ends.

Since Darkbrotherhood ended with you being listener the only and a new sanctuary the only real was to expand them is through new radiant quest or find a way to kill off the current dark brotherhood. Which is cliche since it pretty much already happened once in the game.

Anyways for my this is still a idea in progress so figured getting communities thoughts on it and depending on my time constraints as I am currently working as a indie developer on a game. This idea will go through a lot of time and thinking. One aspect I do want to keep is the town idea if possible (will know more with creation kit release). So when you become jarl basically you will have to deal with different threats to the town. So i mean its possible for dark brotherhood to try to influence the town, as well as even more likely thieves guild would try to start milking you town of money. Bandit attacks, Thalmor attacks etc.. This idea is a fairly large scale, started with me mainly wanting to introduce a new town, made of new models to give the community something new and new buildings to use in other mods. So the town I will be making for sure the story behind the town, and how town is built, and what is included is still in question. Though all my buildings and props i make will be for community use with credit given.

I mentioned this to Bruzer in private, but i feel i should probably put it here for the sake of completeness.

The Stormcloaks are overtly, violently opposed to the Talos ban. They are the American Rebels (Thats right, i said rebels. I'm a loyal subject of the Crown) of Skyrim. I think it would be interesting to create another Talos worshiping faction which more closely represents, say, the Hindu pacifists of India. Strong, silent and constructive opposition rather than violent rebellion. It creates a dicodomy between within the Talos idea, one representing his nature as a general and warlord, the other as an Emperor and archetect.

how about giving the player to chose a violent or peasfull way to do it?

This mod (If it follows this path to completion) would give you the choice. By that, i mean, side with the Stormloaks and take the violent route, or build this community and take the peaceful route.

That, of course, is my take on it. Bruzer may have a different approach in mind. And i know that, in talking to him, there would still be conflict. The Thalmor would still be an issue, but taking a stand against them is different than blaming all the problems on the Empire and trying to oust the Legion.

Then again, i think evenr Ghandi would jump at the chance to stab a Thalmor in the eyes witha fork...
