Yogensya
Hi, I have done a new weapon for the game, it's mostly finished, but currently it replaces the steel sword. How can i make it be added as a new elven sword with it's own stats etc, is there any link that covers how to do that? It's my first skyrim mod and i'm a bit lost with that. :( Thanks! Here's a pic of the weapon by the way.. EDIT: Sorry i meant to post this in the troubleshooting section :/ http://www.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/3591598-1325980005.jpg Edited January 7, 2012 by Yogensya
Lachdonin
I don't beleive its possible to create new weapons withou replacing current ones as of yet. Once the construction set comes out you can do it to your hearts content, but our hands are tied for the moment.
Yogensya
But there are mods that do it, like Jaysus's swords and sword of the third era, or do those mods use some other trick i'm missing?
phantur
Something about an ESP file. o_O; All I know. xD
Lachdonin
I know some people have been using third party editors to make changes which would otherwise only be possible with the Construction Set. It's supposed to come out in January, however, so i'd personally recomend just keeping your pants on. And ESP stands for Elder Scrolls Plugin. It is the file format used by the Construction Set (and the aforementioned third party programs) for creating secondary game data-sets which alter the basic world found in the ESM files. Rabbit1251
Can't help you with your question, but I did want to say that is a nice looking sword. Rabbit
d0kefish
You can with the help of skyedit get stuff into skyrim without replacments. Basically making them craftable.
jimhsu
Download one of the ESPs that adds new weapons, take it apart with Skyedit, and figure out what needs to be added. (Hint: you need at least one WEAP and one STAT record). For crafting, you need a COBJ (another one for tempering). For merchants, CNTO. teklanika
Two options: 1. Use a Hexadecimal Code Editor like Skyedit to create a "dirty" mod, which will forcefully add the item into the game. 2. Wait for the Creation Kit to be released. This is the same tool used by Bethesda to create the game. They release it for free with all Elder Scrolls games. Yogensya
I'll probably have to wait for the creation kit but i may play tomorrow with that skyedit thing, see if i can figure it out. Thanks a lot guys :)
