[LE] Someone interested to do historical medieval helmets? Perhaps I can help?

Recommended Posts

I don't know how to make a 3d model helmet. But I know how to make real ones: https://flarcheveque.wordpress.com/gallery/

I am specialized in the making of late 15th century german helmets. I installed several armours and helmets mods in my skyrim game. They are mainly items from Witcher 2 and they are pretty good! But they could be better and as a real armour smith, I would be willing to be the advisor of a modder. Especially for the german sallets, I could give pictures of every angles and explain all the importants details that make these helmets so cools.

Is it something that could interest a modder? Because I don't feel I have time to learn another skill like 3D modeling...

Just a tought...

Of course!

I have theses mods running right now:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10980/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17250/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21219/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34433/? (I installed only the Medium Buckler)

I also replaced a lot of original meshes. For example, the original steel helmet is now the sallet you can see on the screenshots. I just renamed the modded meshes and placed them on the appropriate folders.

The sallet in the screenshot is a Witcher 2 sallet, but I modified the skull and the tail. My version is a lot more ''bell shaped'', like I love the reals german sallets. I used Bodyslide and NifSkope to do the modifications. I would like to modify the visor but I am not enough skilled. The gauntlets on the screenshots are now the ebony gauntlets in my game, the mace is now the steel mace, and the sword with fishtail pommel is now the dwarven sword.

Not sure if you'd be interested in this, but if u make real life helmets, you could look into photogrammetry, 3d scanning; using photos taken of objects from many angles to form 3d models based off real-life objects. Memento is a great utility i see people use to convert real objects into high fidelity 3d models.

This is a 3d scan of a sandwich for example:
