cumbrianlad
Yeah, I like my Dwarven spider this time through Skyrim, especially after I made it essential and boosted its AttackDamageMultiplier a touch and gave it loads of health. Now I like it even more because it seems to defy the game engine and enter places it's not supposed to go. I've been working on a mod for a Draugr dungeon and my master save point was made when I had my faithful pet with me in Skyrim. Up until today, when I've loaded my save point to test in-game, the 8-legged wonder had to remain behind because I had no navmesh. Today, I put one down on most of the tomb and finalised it to see if the spider could negotiate it. I led it on a tour of the tomb with no problems. I was especially interested to see how it went along the twisty secret passage (those things are a pain in the backside to navmesh). The good old mechanical arachnid got through with no hassle. It was what happened next that made me wonder. I'd stopped putting down the mesh right at the end of the secret passage, but old faithful clattered and hissed its way after me through all the halls and rooms that had no navmesh on them. I thought that would be impossible...maybe that's why they're called steadfast. I'm even more impressed with my spider now. Can anyone tell me how an AI managed to negotiate a complex set of rooms and halls with no navmesh to tell it where to go? It ran around the tables and other static items without getting stuck once.
