wooboy77 Posted January 9, 2012 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Hi! Something I don't get with skyrim it is how to install mods into the game? In what folder do I have to put them? Then? How to activate them? When I run thlauncher the "data files" button is not on and not usable... Have i done something wrng? Im not getting it really... please help! Perraine Posted January 9, 2012 Share Posted January 9, 2012 If you used the default instalation paths for Skyrim and steam, most mod files should go in:C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data Some game engine enhancing mods like the ENB series or Skyboost will need to go in the Skyrim folder. To make it easier you can also use the Mod Manager to install them To get the 'Data Files" to work on the Launcher you first need to locate the SkyrimPrefs.ini file which by default in Windows 7 is here: C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim This is just a text file which you can edit with notepadOpen the file and look for a line like this [Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1 ( make sure it is =1 and not =0) If there is DEFINITELY no [Launcher] line you can add it in at the bottom, I'd recommend using the 'search' function in notepad though, just to make sure Make sure to check the file properties and make sure it is not set to 'read only' then save and done Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
